The best UFC betting sites have more Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xiaonan betting options. They can be found below on our UFC odds table.
Zhang Weili has a 24-3 record in mixed martial arts. This is her second time as UFC Strawweight champion, having previously held the belt between August 2019 and April 2021.
Zhang only defended the title once before losing it to Rose Namajunas from a vicious head-kick KO at UFC 261. The Chinese attempted to win the belt back at UFC 268 but again came off second best as Namajunas won the rematch by a split decision.
Eventually, the 34-year-old won the title again in August 2023, defeating Amanda Lemos by unanimous decision at UFC 292.
Primarily a striker, Zhang has 11 KO wins in her 24 career victories. She has a further eight wins by submission and five by decision. Inside the UFC, Zhang has ten fights, winning eight and losing just twice.
Both the defeats were to Namajunas. She has won four times by decision, two by KO, and two by submission.
Yan Xiaonan Career Breakdown
Yan Xiaonan is also 34 years old but has far less experience than her opponent on Saturday. She has an MMA record of 17-3-0-1. Within the UFC organization, her record is 8-2.
Yan hasn’t been the busiest of fighters within the promotion. The first of her ten fights was back in November 2017, when she defeated Kailin Curran by unanimous decision in Shanghai.
Her career suffered a double setback with losses to Carla Esparza and Marina Rodriguez. But since then, she has recovered well, defeating Mackenzie Dern in October 2022, and more recently, she defeated former champion Jessica Andrade at UFC 288.
The knockout win over Andrade earned her both the Performance of the Night award and the No.1 ranking in the Strawweight division.
Yan’s career breakdown shows that eight of her 17 wins have come by KO, with the other nine decided on the scorecards. Her three career losses have come by one knockout, one decision, and one submission.
Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xiaonan betting picks and predictions
Zhang will enter the octagon on Saturday on a three-fight winning streak. Yan is on a two-fight winning run. The bookmakers are not giving the challenger much chance, but we feel the odds on her are a touch harsh.
Yan is a good striker. She won’t be afraid to mix it with Zhang. The challenger is likely to struggle if the fight goes to the floor, so expect Yan to try and keep things vertical.
We feel that the KO/TKO/DQ option of +1000 on Yan is worth a small wager. If she is to win, she will probably have to take the scorecards out of the equation.
But overall, Zhangi looks like a better and more accomplished fighter. Her ground skills are superior, and even when it comes to striking, the champion also has the upper hand.
Zhang Weili is our betting pick to beat Yan Xiaonan.
If odds of -470 are too short for you, then back under 4.5 rounds at -125. Yan has to stop the fight to win it. She may achieve that. Or she may also leave herself wide open to an attack from Zhang that finishes the fight early.
