There’s a tasty set of matchups on the way, of course including Charles Oliveira going up against Dustin Poirier in the main event. Everyone truly can’t wait for UFC 269 to arrive. Heading into things, Dustin Poirier is the favorite going up against Charles Oliveira when they meet in Las Vegas. These two light heavyweights are always ready to put on a show whenever they’re inside of the Octagon and the same is expected to take place on Saturday when they put the gloves on.
For Poirier, the last time we saw him in action was at UFC 264 going up against the one and only Conor McGregor. In that meeting, Poirier was able to record a TKO win in the first round. Poirier has owned McGregor and he was able to make quite the statement with that win. Now, he’s ready to do the same when he takes on Oliveira. For Oliveira, he’s quite confident leading up to Saturday.

“No one has such a gigantic winning streak like me, nine in a row with only one decision, and you all saw it, you can’t debate it,” Oliveira said last month in an interview. “Many people say I have to beat Dustin to prove I’m the champion. I am the champion. I won (the belt) earlier this year and I’ll defend my belt now.”
According to the best-rated online sportsbooks, Poirier has been given -170 UFC Vegas odds for this meeting, while Oliveira is indeed the underdog with his +138 odds. While we do think that this will be a great fight, it’s going to be tough for Oliveira to record an upset. Poirier has looked strong in recent fights and that should continue, which is why he’s our pick to win.
Over in the women’s bantamweight title fight, Amanda Nunes should cruise to a dominant win over Julianna Pena on Saturday night. Nunes will no question go down as one of the best fighters of all time for the UFC. What she’s been able to accomplish throughout her career really has been special. She’s admired around the world by so many people and for good reason.
In her last fight, Nunes took on Megan Anderson at UFC 259 back in March. So, how did things go for her that time? They couldn’t have gone much better, as Nunes was able to record a dominant victory via submission in the first round. That was very much expected, as she was a heavy favorite going into that battle. The same can be said for her fight with Pena.
Entering Saturday’s brawl Nunes has been given a head-turning -1050 odds. For Pena, she will get ready to take on Nunes knowing that the oddsmakers really aren’t giving her much of a chance to record an upset win, as she’s been set at +630. That number given for Pena really let’s you know how tall the task will be for her to come out on top and stun the world.
Nunes has all the swagger on her side. She’s a legend in the game and only gets better with each fight she participates in. Everyone wants to know the following: will Geoff Neal be able to record an upset at UFC 269? He’s all set to try and get that job done when he takes on Santiago Ponzinibbio in their welterweight meeting. For Neal, he’s, unfortunately, a bit of an underdog as he gets ready to surprise Ponzinibbio for this one. Ponzinibbio has been hot, but Neal won’t let that bring him down.
As things stand, Ponzinibbio is the favorite with his -128 UFC odds. Meanwhile, for Neal, he’s not too far behind at +104 odds. Both of these fighters have all the talent in the world and they’ve got some serious knockout power. That’s what’s going to make this fight so interesting. It would be quite a surprise if this meeting doesn’t end with some sort of a knockout.
Similar to the matchups we discussed above, we expect this one to provide plenty of entertainment. Neal will have his hands full, but we don’t think this fight will end in the first round. This could go either 2-3 rounds, with Neal landing some surprise shots on his opponents. We’ve got a gut feeling that Neal can accomplish the upset, which is why we’re going with him as our pick.
