This is the second successive weekend the organization has put on a show at the UFC Apex in Vegas. Headlining this Saturday is a women’s Flyweight contest between Amanda Ribas and Rose Namajunas.
Two-time UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas (-205) is the betting favorite to win the five-round contest. But this is only her second fight since moving up to the 125 pounds division – and she lost her first. Can Amanda Ribas (+175) condemn the betting favorite to a third-successive defeat?

Amanda Ribas is a 30-year-old from Brazil with a career MMA record of 13-4. In the UFC, her record is 8-2, and she is ranked No.8 in the Flyweight division.
As the odds show, Ribas isn’t a big-hitting fighter. But despite this, she prefers to be on the front foot, implementing a high-tempo striking and punching game plan to try and create takedown opportunities.
In her most recent fight, she defeated Luana Pinheiro on the Allen vs. Craig Fight Night undercard in November 2023. She ended the fight in the third round by a TKO after a spinning kick and a flurry of punches, earning her the Performance of the Night.
She has suffered setbacks recently, though. In her last six fights, she has won three and lost three. And like her opponent, she has switched between Flyweight and Strawweight in recent times, sometimes upsetting her rhythm.
Of her 13 wins, five have come by decision, four by KO, and four by submission. Her four losses have come by three KOs and one decision.
Rose Namajunas Career Breakdown
Rose Namajunas has a career MMA record of 11-6. The 31-year-old is unranked in the Flyweight division, with this being only her second fight. Namajunas is 9-5 in the promotion, where she is also a two-time UFC Strawweight Champion.
Despite her short odds to win by KO/TKO/DQ, she has only scored two knockout wins in her 11 career victories. Namajunas has five wins by submission and four by decision on her record. The breakdown of her six defeats is four by decision, one by submission, and one by KO.
Like Ribas, Rose Namajunas is also a technical fighter who looks to get on the front foot with a series of kicks and punches. This mode of attack has led to her five submission wins. Softening up the opponent, taking her to the ground, before executing the rear-naked choke hold. But a word of caution, she hasn’t won by this method since April 2017.
The former champion has two losses in her last two fights. Her defeat to Carla Esparza at UFC 274 was a particularly disappointing one. Not only did she lose her Strawweight belt, but she failed to turn up on the night and do herself justice.
Her first fight at Flyweight was a unanimous decision loss to Manon Fiorot in September. And although it was an improvement on her performance against Esparaz, it still looked well short of her best.
Amanda Ribas vs. Rose Namajunas betting picks
On paper, this looks like a 50/50 fight. We’re surprised to see the odds on a win for Namajunas so short, especially given her more recent switch to the division, and also, her last two performances.
The odds seem based on what Namajunas used to be like rather than what we have seen her produce recently.
Based on the above, our betting pick is a win for Amanda Ribas, most probably on points.
