Liverpool leads the table with 18 points from six matches. The Reds have won six and drawn one. At their Anfield home, Liverpool have won two and lost one.
The wins came against Brentford (2-0) and Bournemouth (3-0). But the defeat was a poor one, with Arne Slot’s team losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest. This was despite having 70 percent possession and 14 shots at goal, with five on target. Forest had five shots on goal with three on target.
Chelsea sit fourth on 14 points. The Blues have won four and drawn two. On the road, Enzo Maresca’s team has won three from three. The wins have come away at Wolves (6-2), Bournemouth (1-0), and West Ham (3-0).

Liverpool has had a steady start to life after Jurgen Klopp.
Fans may point to the league table and say it’s better than stable. But the reality is that apart from a road trip win over Manchester United, Liverpool haven’t been tested yet this season.
The next three games for the Reds will tell us a lot more. After the Chelsea match, Liverpool travel to Germany to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday. That is followed by a road trip to London to face Arsenal in the Premier League the following Sunday.
So far so good for Enzo Maresca
Considering the mess that Enzo Marseca inherited, it’s only fair to say that the Italian has enjoyed an impressive start to life in London.
Maybe rather brutally, Maresca trimmed down Chelsea’s bloated playing squad in the summer. The awkward task was part of his job remit. And in the short space of time he has been in charge, the former Manchester City coach has also managed to settle on a regular starting eleven.
Furthermore, Maresca has also made Chelsea good to watch. His team plays free-flowing soccer, the sort associated with his former boss Pep Guardiola.
The one area of concern must be their home form. Chelsea has only won one of four. They lost to Manchester City, which is no disgrace. But home draws with Crystal Palace (1-1) and Nottingham Forest (1-1) leave plenty of room for improvement at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool vs. Chelsea Picks and Predictions
Liverpool are two from three at their Anfield home, where they have only conceded one goal. That was in the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. Chelsea has scored 10 on the road in three matches. The Blues won all three by an aggregate of 10-2.
Furthermore, Liverpool has scored in nine of their ten matches this season. Only Nottingham Forest have prevented them from scoring. Chelsea has also only failed to find the net once in all competitions. That was against Manchester City on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
It’s not impossible to see both teams scoring in this fixture. But the question is can Liverpool end Chelsea’s 100% record on the road?
Both these teams have new managers. It’s fair to say that new Liverpool boss Arne Slot hasn’t yet been tested. Yes, the former Feyenoord boss has picked up from where Klopp left off. He has even improved the defense. But we are yet to see how he reacts when things start to go wrong and the team is challenged.
On the flip side, Enzo Maresca has already improved Chelsea. Granted, it would have been hard to be any worse than the Blues have been over the past couple of seasons.
With a touch of uncertainty around both teams, we are going for Chelsea and the draw in the double-chance market for our betting pick. At odds of +115, it is by far the best value bet.
