The second major ATP event this month is underway, and with the big guns set to enter the fray, it’s time for our 2022 Miami Open betting picks.
The early qualifying rounds are already underway, and across the weekend we will see the top seeds enter the action.
Unfortunately, this year the top seeds aren’t the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafa Nadal, for various reasons. But the competition is still boasting stars like Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Although these guys might not have the gravitas of the big three, they are the next generation of players. These guys are almost having their own competition. They are all jostling for the position of the pretender to the throne for the day the three legends finally move aside.
The big chief in the next generation at the moment is Daniil Medvedev. The big-serving Russian (who is eligible to compete, but not under his national flag) was briefly the world number 1 heading into the Indian Wells Masters.
After a disappointing defeat in the Round of 32 to Gael Monfils, Medvedev lost the No.1 spot. It returned to Novak Djokovic, who – such is the way the tennis world rankings work – didn’t even have to hit a tennis ball to reclaim top position.
If Medvedev can make it to at least the semi-finals in Miami, he will reclaim the world number 1 ranking, which means there is plenty of incentive for him to do well over the next few days.
2022 Miami Open Betting Odds
With a great chance to claim both his first title of 2022 and the world number ranking, Daniil Medvedev is the favorite at +210 in the latest tennis betting odds.
ATP 2021 tour finals winner, Alexander Zverev is next at +500, who is closely followed by Carlos Alcaraz at +650.
Then it’s Stefanos Tsitsipas at +1100 and Andrey Rublev at +1200.
If you’re looking for a long-shot, then surprise winner of Indian Wells, America’s Taylor Fritz is +4000 to win back-to-back titles on the ATP tour.
How to Bet on Miami Open
The Miami Open is an ATP Masters 1000 series competition, and one of the biggest non-grand slam events on the calendar.
Coming so close to the Indian Wells competition, this is a demanding schedule for the tour players. But it is also an exciting part of the hardcourt season.
Officially the competition has started. The early rounds are mainly qualifying rounds though, with the top seeds not entering the fray until the weekend and the round of 64.
Competition; 2022 Miami Open ATP 1000
Where; Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Miami, Florida, USA
Where; March 23rd – April 3rd
Popular tennis betting markets on the competition include individual match winners, set betting, and over/under spreads on total games played in a match.
In the futures market, the most popular bet is on the outright winner, in this case, the favorite is Medvedev.
As the Indian Wells competition showed us only last week, these competitions can throw up surprise winners. Not many would have predicted Taylor Fritz beating Rafa Nadal in the final last Sunday. And likewise, Hubert Hurkacz is the defending champion here.
On the flip side, a combination of Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Roger Federer did win this competition from 2011 to 2017, showing that the big names can dominate.
If you are considering an outsider to bet on, then to reduce your risks consider using one of the many new customer bonuses offers found on our Las Vegas Sportsbooks page.
Using these offers allows us to hedge our bets and also pick better value outside bets. And with this competition being an open-looking event, a long shot could be better value than ever this year!
Miami Open Betting Picks
Right, it’s time for a couple of betting picks on the Miami Open, and as alluded to, I’m going for more than one player.
Medvedev to rediscover early-season form
Daniil Medvedev may have been distracted by events from outside of his control going into Indian Wells, but before that, he had been in great form.
He probably should have won the Australian Open in January. But going down to an inspired Rafa Nadal comeback in a five-set final isn’t something to be too worried about.
He also lost to Nadal in the semi-finals of the Mexican Open between Australia and Indian Wells.
But with no Nadal here to get in Medvedev’s way, and the chance to become world number one again, I’m thinking Medvedev will have regained his composure and I will make him my main betting pick to win the 2022 Miami Open.

Reilly Opelka; A Good Value Outside Pick
I’m also going to go for Reilly Opelka as my outside pick to win the Miami Open. The 24-year-old American has had a solid start to 2022.
He was disappointing at the Australian Open. But since then he has won the Dallas Open, lost narrowly in the final of the Delray Beach Open final, and also ran Rafa Nadal very close in the Round of 16 at Indian Wells.
At odds of +3300, I think he makes a good value betting pick.
