Round 22 of the F1 season is the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Max Verstappen could clinch another world championship on the famous Vegas strip. The Dutchman is the joint-favorite with Lando Norris to win the race and we tell you if he can do it when we name our Formula 1 betting picks.
After his sensational win at the Brazilian Grand Prix in Round 21, Max Verstappen can now clinch his fourth successive world title in Las Vegas.
The Dutchman drove a storming race in Brazil. Starting from 17th on the grid, Verstappen surged through the field in wet conditions to take the checkered flag and confirm his status as the best driver on the F1 roster.
As a result of the Dutchman’s win and a P6 finish for his title rival Lando Norris, Verstappen (393 points) has now opened up a 62-point lead over Norris (331) in the drivers’ championship.
Another race win in Vegas for Verstappen would see him win the championship with two races to spare. If Verstappen doesn’t win the race he will still win the world championship if Norris fails to score three points more than the Dutchman.
The bookmakers think it is already a done deal. In the latest Las Vegas odds, Verstappen is -5000 to win the championship and Norris is +1600.
Onto the race itself, and there is a two-way split at the top of the betting. Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are the +225 joint favorites to take the checkered flag first.
Third in the betting is Charles Leclerc at +275. Leclerc’s Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz is next at +600.
Outside the top four contenders, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri is +1200 and the Mercedes pair of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are both +2800.
In team/car betting, Ferrari is the favorite to win at +150. Any McLaren to win is +160, any Red Bull is +210, and any Mercedes is +1400.

Red Bull started the season as the red-hot favorites to win the Constructors’ Championship.
Around halfway through the year, it became apparent that McLaren had the faster car and a combination of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri reeled in Red Bull. The defending constructors’ champions were relying on Max Verstappen for points as Sergio Perez struggled for form.
Eventually, McLaren became the team to beat. They were -1400 to win the championship ahead of Austin (round 19) and then -800 ahead of Mexico City (round 20).
After a shocking weekend in Brazil, McLaren is now -650. Ferrari are +400, and Red Bull are now +5000.
It’s only in recent weeks that Ferrari has become the main threat to McLaren.
The Italian team still does have some work to do if they are to catch the British team. McLaren has 593 points. Ferrari has 557, so they have a 36-point gap to close.
Furthermore, McLaren may now decide that the game is up for Lando Norris in the drivers’ championship and decide to focus their attention on the constructors’ title instead. That decision could be taken during the race in Vegas if the writing looks on the wall at an early stage.
This would free up Oscar Piastri and mean McLaren has two drivers pushing for points rather than using Piastri to assist Norris in his attempts to catch Verstappen. This should be enough to see McLaren clinch the title.
Onto our race picks, and although Max Verstappen is the man in form with a win in his last race, we are steering clear of him in Vegas.
The Las Vegas street circuit is compared to Monza. Known as the Temple of Speed, Monza is one of the fastest circuits on the roster, so we can expect Vegas to be similar.
The win for Red Bull in Brazil was down to having a competitive car and the best driver on the roster at the controls. The wet and rainy conditions allowed for Verstappen’s superior skills to come to the fore. Red Bull’s victory certainly wasn’t because they had the quickest car.
Weather isn’t likely to play a part in Vegas. So the quicker cars are again set to dominate, and the two fastest currently look to be McLaren and Ferrari.
Ferrari has been the team in the best form in recent weeks. They had a 1-2 in Austin and 1-3 in Mexico City. McLaren were 4-5 in Austin and 2-8 in Mexico.
The race in Brazil was an anomaly. Alpine finished 2-3 behind Verstappen, which is unheard of and only goes to show how the conditions affected the race. But for the record, Norris was P6 and Piastri P8 for McLaren. Leclerc claimed P5 for Ferrari with Sainz failing to finish.
Ferrari looks like the best bet to win in Vegas.
