Spain’s Jon Rahm will be hoping for more success in 2023 than he had in the previous 12 months. Here we look ahead to his prospects in the coming year with future odds on Rahm in all four majors, and we also give you our verdict on his chances of success in our free golf betting picks.
After a magnificent 2021, Jon Rahm would have expected 2022 to be the year he would kick on and take his career to the next level. Despite encouraging signs towards the end of the year, 2022 didn’t turn out to be the year Rahm was hoping for.
He started it ranked number one in the world and also as the betting favorite for all four major championships. In the end, he finished 2022 ranked fifth (although he’s no fan of the new ranking system), and won zero major championships.
Now moving into 2023, can Rahm rediscover the form that took him to his only major championship back in 2021? Towards the end of 2022, Rahm did show signs he was coming back to the form of 2021.
But with Rory McIlroy now establishing himself as the new world number one, and with Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Smith, and Patrick Cantlay also now having overtaken Rahm in the rankings, it’s going to be difficult for the big-hitting Spaniard to win a major championship.

The first major championship of 2023 is the Master’s Tournament from Augusta, starting on April 6th and finishing on April 9th. In the betting to win the Masters, the Vegas golf odds see Rory McIlroy made favorite at +900, with Rahm second in the betting at +1200.
Cameron Smith and Scottie Scheffler are next. Both men are +1400.
Rahm finished in a disappointing T27 position in 2022. But in his previous four years, the Spaniard has finished inside the top 10.
Starting from 2017, Rahm’s record at Augusta reads T27, 4, T9, T7, T5, and T27, again. That’s a pretty impressive record at Augusta and it says that this is a course that suits Rahm’s game.
At +1200, with a record like that, we believe Jon Rahm is a good value pick to win the 2023 Masters Tournament.
In the betting to win the PGA Championship, Rahm is a joint favorite along with Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy. All three men are +1400.
This year’s PGA is at the Oak Hill Country Club in New York, taking place from May 18th to May 21st.
Rahm first played the PGA in 2017. Starting from there, his record reads T58, T4, Cut, T13, T8, and T48. Last year’s 48th-place finish would have been extremely disappointing for Rahm. But it came in the first half of the year when his form had taken a bit of a nose dive.
The third major of the year is the US Open, which is being held at the Los Angeles Country Club from June 15th to June 18th.
The defending champion is Matt Fitzpatrick of England, who, like Rahm in 2021, won his first major at this championship. In the betting to win the US Open, Rahm and McIlroy are joint favorites at +1200.
As an amateur, Rahm’s record at the US Open is T23 in 2016. He missed the cut in 2017 and 2018. Then in 2019, Rahm finished T3. He was T23 in 2020, won the competition in 2021, and was T12 last year while defending his championship.
The final major of the season, this year’s British Open Championship, is being held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Course from July 20th to July 23rd.
Starting in 2016, Rahm’s record in the UK is T59, T44, missed the cut, T11, no tournament in 2020, T3, and T34. This isn’t the major that jumps out at you if you’re looking for one that suits Rahm. And this is reflected in the betting odds.
Rory McIlroy is again the favorite, this time at +900. Both Rahm and defending champion Cameron Smith are next at +1200. The Open Championship can be a bit of a lottery due to the uncertain weather at coastal links courses. And at over six months away, who knows what players will be in form at this stage of the season?
Rahm looks to be regarded as the second-best golfer in the world by the top Vegas betting sites. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him win a major. And as we’ve already alluded to, a bet on him to win the Masters looks good value.
