The 2025 Moto GP season is well underway now and the race for the World Championships is on, with legendary rider Marc Marquez leading the way.
With the first two races of the season in the bank, the Spaniard has claimed victory twice already and stands with a big gap at the top of the drivers’ championship as he looks to earn a seventh word title in his career.
But the Ducati star has big competition, and we’ll take a look at the race to take the crown come the end of the season as we provide our best free Moto GP betting picks to try and earn you some extra cash while you take in the action on the track.
A six-time world champion is leading the way with the bookmakers to be crowned world champion once again, and it should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone.
The legendary Spaniard has already dominated the early parts of the season. He has won the first two races in Thailand and Argentina, having claimed pole position in qualifying for both and then secured the fastest lap in both races too.
His bike is also clearly the best, alongside teammate Francesco Bagnaia, and it seems like it’s going to be a battle between the two Ducati’s as to who is adding another world title to their trophy cabinet at the end of the season.
Right now it looks like Marquez’s to lose, but the bookmakers are surely going too early by going so short on the odds. Is he the most likely winner? Absolutely. But there is zero value in backing him at -471 after just two races, so this is a bet to avoid.
The 2024 season was a difficult one for Bagnaia to swallow. Having won the world championship in each of the last two seasons prior, the Italian went on a storming run over the course of the season.
Bagnaia won six of the opening nine races of the season and claimed third place in another. He also won the final three races of the season in what was a thrilling end to the campaign, only to be pipped to a third consecutive title by the consistency of Jorge Martin.
The 28-year-old is without a doubt one of the very best riders in the world, and he is always in contention for a win. Riding the same bike as Marquez gives him a big edge over the rest of the field, and it essentially comes down to a straight shootout between the teammates.
So far this season Bagnaia has opened up with a third and fourth-place finish, which has left him trailing in Marquez’s wake. But there is a long way to go and he is the man to compete for the championship come November. With value of +320 at this stage, this is the best bet to make.
Francesco Bagnaiato win Moto GP World Championship
It must be hard being Alex Marquez. He is arguably one of the best riders in the world, and yet he’s more famous for being Marc’s baby brother.
The younger Marquez brother has been racing for a long time but in 90 race starts during his career he is yet to win a Grand Prix and has only claimed pole position once – although he has earned seven podium finishes.
Two of those have come this season, with Alex finishing second behind his brother in both races so far, and he is arguably riding better than he ever has before in his career. His performance during testing was exceptional and so far this season he has been competitive.
But winning a world title requires an entirely different level of consistency that we have never seen from him before, and that makes it difficult to pick him to go all the way and win a world title ahead of his brother. I expect he will finally win a race this season, but the world championship is a step too far.
The reigning and defending world champion, Martin has switched to Aprilia for the 2025 season and has had some early season struggles so far.
Two separate crashes during pre-season saw Martin suffer some serious damage to his left wrist which means he hasn’t been able to race so far this season, but the form he showed last year means he is most definitely still in with a shout if he can hit the ground running once he returns.
In the 2024 season the Spaniard earned the first world championship of his career through his sheer consistency, despite winning ‘just’ three races all year. In 20 races, Martin retired in two and finished in 15th once. He also finished fourth in the Grand Prix of the Americas. Those four races are the only time he didn’t finish on the podium.
He’s got a big gap to make up already to catch Marquez but if he can find last season’s form again, then +3200 is an incredible value bet for the current champion to retain his crown.
