City can win the treble here, while the Nerazzurri can claim their second trophy of the campaign, having already won the Coppa Italia recently. Keep reading for the Manchester City vs Inter Milan picks.
As you can see, City is a massive favorite for the UCL final with -220 odds at Bovada online sportsbook while Inter comes back at +550. Needless to say, not much of anyone is giving the Italians much of a chance. When it comes to the odds of actually winning the showpiece, the Premier League giants are at -475. Inter meanwhile sits at +365.
This is the first-ever competitive meeting between the two sides, but they have locked horns in friendlies before.
Can City Win The Treble?
Two trophies down, one to go. Pep Guardiola’s men already won the Premier League after overtaking Arsenal across the last few weeks of the season then also lifted the FA Cup over the weekend, besting rivals Manchester United thanks to a brace from Ilkay Gundogan. But, to be honest, this is the trophy that has time and time again slipped through City’s fingertips.
Despite being one of the best clubs in the world over the last number of years, the Sky Blues have failed to conquer Europe. They were in the final back in 2021 but ended up losing to Chelsea because of Kai Havertz’s winner. However, this does feel like a clear opportunity for City to not only win the Champions League but also complete the treble, something that rarely happens.
City has yet to lose in the competition, going 4-2-0 in the group stages before beating RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, and most recently, Real Madrid, in the semifinals. The first leg ended level at the Bernabeu but the EPL standouts erupted in the reverse fixture, thrashing Los Blancos 4-0 behind a pair of goals from Bernardo Silva.
The Cityzens come into this clash in mind-boggling form, having tasted defeat just once in their last 26 games. During that span? 21 wins. Pretty much nobody has been able to beat them and their confidence will once again be sky-high on the weekend.
Inter a Huge Underdog
If you would’ve said Inter Milan is going to be in the UCL final back in the fall, most football experts would say you’re crazy. Nevertheless, Simone Inzaghi’s men have proved all the doubters wrong. Despite finishing in third in Serie A, the Nerazzurri have found success in the Champions League, knocking off the likes of Benfica, Porto, and AC Milan in the knockouts.
Inter completely dominated their city rivals in the derby in the semifinals, securing a 2-0 and 1-0 win in the two legs. Milan didn’t pose much of any threat, especially since their best player Rafael Leao missed the opening tie due to injury. The star of the show for Inter is Lautaro Martinez, who scored 21 goals in league play this term and also added another three in this tournament.
The Argentine also scored the decisive goal in the second leg against Milan in the second half and will surely be relied upon to create some havoc on Saturday. The biggest X-factor for the Italian outfit however is going to be their backline. Although Erling Haaland has been quiet as of late, he is arguably the best striker in the world at the moment and just broke all sorts of records in England. Oh, and he’s also scored more goals than any other player in the 2022-23 Champions League campaign.
Injury News
After a few injury concerns in their final Premier League game, City was back to full strength for the FA Cup final and that is very much the case for Saturday. Expect a similar starting XI rolled out as we saw at Wembley. As for Inter, Milan Skriniar and Joaquin Correa are both questionable due to injuries.
Manchester City vs Inter Milan Picks
In a one-leg final, truly anything can happen. But, I honestly see no way City loses this match. They’re a much stronger side and should comfortably beat Inter. Take the Betonline moneyline at -210. It’s the lowest of all three sportsbooks listed.
