With the summer right around the corner, things are surely heating up in more ways than one around Sin City. In this piece, we have our latest local news around Las Vegas, which of course includes the Golden Knights hoping to pull off an upset in the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs going up against the Colorado Avalanche. On top of that, we have notes on the Raiders and more.
Golden Knights are major underdogs against the Avalanche
While Vegas was able to advance to the next round of the NHL Stanley Cup postseason, their reward wasn’t a great one. That’s because the team is now facing Colorado, and the Golden Knights are major underdogs against the Avalanche. This shouldn’t come as a big surprise, as Colorado holds the No. 1 NHL odds to win the Stanley Cup this summer.
For Vegas, they were able to advance in the postseason after taking down the Minnesota Wild in the previous round of the NHL playoffs. That series went to a full seven games, with Vegas coming away with a 6-2 win in that Game 7 showdown to move on to face Colorado. Unfortunately for Vegas, Colorado swept St. Louis 4-0 in their previous series, meaning they were fresh for their first game against Vegas.
The Golden Knights were clearly tired both physically and emotionally after their draining series against Minnesota. This was showcased in Game 1, as Colorado absolutely dominated from start to finish and captured a resounding 7-1 victory over Vegas. Moving forward, Vegas is going to want to do everything possible to try and make this an interesting series.
It will be on the star players to give it their all and steal some games away from the Avalanche, otherwise Colorado could put this out of hand pretty darn quickly. The hope here is that Vegas can somehow find a way to get themselves in a position to win the series and move one step closer to competing for the Stanley Cup title. Right now, though, their backs are surely against the wall.
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr looks fantastic at OTAs
While the NFL regular season may still be months away, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr looks fantastic at OTAs. The veteran signal-caller is getting ready to begin his eighth campaign in the NFL, all which have come with the Raiders organization. For Carr, he’s already putting on a show at the team’s OTAs this offseason, and he looks to be in the best shape of his career. Take a look at the photo below for more proof of that.
As you can see, Carr looks absolutely jacked here. It’s been made more than clear that he’s focused on taking care of his body since the 2020 season came to a close. That’s of course going to be huge for him this fall, as he once again looks to lead the Raiders offense to a big year. With that said, the team missed the playoffs this past winter and fans are starting to grow frustrated.
With Jon Gruden taking over as head coach, the team simply hasn’t lived up to expectations in recent seasons. However, the Raiders indeed look poised to have a big year in ’21, and Carr is ready to lead things offensively. Last season for Vegas, the QB threw for 4,103 yards, 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Carr had some huge games, highlighted by the upset win over the Chiefs in Kansas City.
However, he was also quite inconsistent at times. That wasn’t great to see. In order for Vegas to have a shot at potentially snagging a Wild Card spot this upcoming season – assuming the Chiefs go on to win the AFC West – Carr will have to play his absolute best. With that new photo of him looking in tremendous shape, though, it’s obvious that he is motivated to silence all of his haters.
Adam Lambert is ready to return to Las Vegas in October
With the COVID-19 pandemic improving and improving, that means life is starting to get a little bit more back to normal all over Sin City. Well, that also means that folks are going to be able to start enjoying shows and concerts like they used to. With that said, singer Adam Lambert is ready to return to Las Vegas in October, which surely has people excited.

Per the Review-Journal, Lambert will be performing on Oct. 22, 23, 27, 29 and 30. Each concert will be at 8 p.m. to see Lambert.
