Here we are in early June and the updates around Sin City sure are exciting. Between new concerts being set, shows being finalized and the sports teams doing great, live really is good all over Las Vegas. In this article, we have updates for Las Vegas local news, which of course includes the Golden Knights evening up their series with the Colorado Avalanche.
Golden Knights are giving the Avalanche everything they can handle
In the middle of an outstanding NHL Stanley Cup postseason series, the Golden Knights are giving the Avalanche everything they can handle right now. Despite Colorado entering things as the overwhelming favorites to advance to the next round, Vegas has been sensational going up against the mighty Avalanche. On Sunday, Vegas took down Colorado 5-1.
With that victory, the series is now even at 2-2. Through four games, virtually no one thought that Vegas would be toe to toe with Colorado. However, Vegas indeed has been impressive, with their Game 4 win really sending a message to the rest of the NHL. Could the Golden Knights do the unthinkable and go on to eliminate Colorado from Stanley Cup contention?
In that Game 4 win, Jonathan Marchessault was nothing short of brilliant, as he scored three goals. It’s not every day that Colorado gives up a Hat Trick, but Marchessault was able to get that impressive feat done. Patrick Brown and Max Pacioretty were also able to find the back of the next for Vegas in their thrilling win. Now, those same guys will hope to power Vegas to a Game 5 win.
As things stand, Colorado remains a slight favorite, as they hold -144 NHL playoff odds, while Vegas has been set at +118. If you think that Vegas has what it takes to pull off an upset and win this series, be sure to check out our NHL betting sites before placing a wager. The way this series is shaping out, we could see this one go a full seven games. Get your popcorn ready, NHL fans.
Las Vegas Raiders missed out on a Julio Jones trade
Unfortunately for all of the local fans, the Las Vegas Raiders missed out on a Julio Jones trade. While several teams were reportedly among the contenders to trade for the future Hall of Fame wide receiver, the Atlanta Falcons ended up sending him to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a second-round pick and a fourth-round pick. While this is great for Tennessee, it’s a bummer for Vegas.
Countless folks were hoping that Jon Gruden and Co. would have been able to make a trade for Jones. When he’s fully healthy, there’s no denying the veteran wideout is one of the best players in the NFL. He’s surely on his way to Canton once he ends up retiring down the road. He’s been that sensational from the start of his playing days. Even Raiders players were hoping he’d head to town.
In the tweet above, Raiders defensive end Darius Philon even tried recruiting Jones to Las Vegas. With Jones making it clear he was hoping to play with a stud quarterback, catching balls from a guy like Derek Carr would have made a ton of sense. On top of that, think about how much more explosive the Las Vegas offense could have been by adding Jones.
Alas, things just weren’t meant to be for the franchise in this case. Now, Raiders fans are going to have to watch Jones make his brilliant plays in the AFC South with the Tennessee Titans. Right now, everyone in Vegas is thinking about what could have been had the team acquired him. Carr, Philon and others are probably going to be wondering about that for a while.
