With Red Bull’s early season dominance showing no signs of ending, finding good value bets on the 2023 F1 Driver’s Championship at this moment in time is proving difficult. Luckily, we’ve been looking through the markets and have found some decent F1 Season Bets. Here we take a look at them in our latest Formula betting picks.
After just three races of the 2023 Formula 1 season, Max Verstappen is already a heavy odds-on favorite to win this year’s Driver’s Championship
Red Bull cars have won all three races, Verstappen two of them, and the current World Champion already has a 15-point lead at the top of the championship
In the Constructors Championship, it’s even more one-sided. Red Bull has 123 points, and are 58 points ahead of its closest rivals, Aston Martin
Verstappen Odds on for 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Yes, folks, there are still over two weeks until the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. And already, Max Verstappen has been installed as the -250 favorite to win that race. It’s just ridiculous. How can we back him to win at those odds?
But if you think that’s bad, Verstappen is -800 to win the Driver’s Championship, and His Red Bull team is -2500 to win the Constructors Championship. And in the betting without Verstappen, his teammate, Sergio Perez, is odds on at -250 to win that! It’s just wall-to-wall Red Bull at the moment.
Formula 1 Season Match Bets
So, where can we find any value? Maybe in the season match-up markets? For example, in the Ferrari team, you can currently get -180 on Charles Leclerc to beat his teammate Carlos Sainz.
On the other hand, if you feel Sainz has the beating of Leclerc, he is +150 to outperform his lead driver this season.
And it’s the same with the Mercedes team. Lewis Hamilton is favored to outperform his teammate George Russell. Hamilton is -170 to be the top points scorer. At the same time, Russell is +140 to outscore his multiple world champion-winning teammate.
Finally, in the Alpine team, Esteban Ocon is -135, while Pierre Gasly is +105. I’m sure you get the idea of how the bet works now. So let’s make some F1 betting picks.
Our Formula 1 odds table below covers the betting in more detail. To read more about the sportsbooks featured on our table, check out our best Las Vegas sportsbooks page.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has had a stinker of a start to the season. To date, Leclerc’s three-race record reads DNF, 7th, DNF. As for his teammate Carlos Sainz, the Spaniard has finished 4th, 6th, and 12th. As a result, Sainz has 20 points, and Leclerc has just six.
The betting is still showing Charles Leclerc as a heavy odds-on favorite. At -180, the 2022 runner-up in the Driver’s Championship is still expected to come good this season and see off the threat of his Spanish teammate.
But whatever happens, it will already be regarded as a disappointing season for Ferrari. They were expected to be, at the very least, competitive, but they have so far been awful.
Last year Leclerc had 11 podiums to the eight won by Sainz. Leclerc also won three races, Sainz just one. We still think Leclerc will come back strong, though.
It would be easy to go with Sainz at odds with a 14 points lead. But with 10 points the difference between first and third place, we think Leclerc will turn it around across the season, and we make him our pick to be the top Ferrari driver.
Charles LeclercTo be top Ferrari Driver this season
Currently, Lewis Hamilton has a 20 points lead over George Russell. Hamilton has 38 points, Russell 18. The seven-time world champion has one podium finish, which was in Australia’s third race. His record reads 5th, 5th, and 2nd. Russell’s record reads 7th, 4th, and DNF.
What is intriguing here is that Leclerc and Hamilton have almost the same Las Vegas odds, but Hamilton is 20 points better off than his teammate. Leclerc is 14 points behind Sainz. From that, we can safely assume that Russell is regarded as a better No.2 driver than Sainz is.
But even given that, we still think Hamilton has to be the bet. Okay, 20 points is an amount that can be made up across two to three races. But we think it’s more likely that Hamilton will extend that lead. Therefore we’re choosing Lewis Hamilton to finish ahead of George Russell in the drivers championship, our betting pick here.
Lewis HamiltonTo be top Mercedes Driver this season
This one looks like a much tighter battle on paper. Currently, both drivers only have four points each. Ocon has a record of DNF, 8th, and DNF. Gasly’s record is 9th, 9th, and DNF.
As the pair showed with their recent collision in Australia, no quarter looks like it will be given by either driver. Judging by Ocon’s admission that Gasly has apologized for the incident, it appears Gasly has taken responsibility.
But does Gasly’s sheer desire to win at all costs give him the edge in this competition? We think it does. And it’s better to match Gasly now while he’s odds against, rather than to wait and see, only to find that the former AlphaTauri’s driver’s odds have shortened.
