Brighton vs Wolves – 2022-23 Premier League season
Saturday, April 29th
Amex Stadium, Brighton, UK
After a brimful week of Premier League action, we’re back at it this weekend with more games. On Saturday, Brighton will be looking to bounce back from a deflating 3-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest as they prepare for Wolves to visit Amex Stadium. The kick-off is scheduled for 10 AM ET. Continue reading for the Brighton vs Wolves picks.
The Seagulls are a massive favorite here with moneyline odds of -200 at Bovada online sportsbook for an implied win probability of 66.67%. Wolverhampton comes back at a steep +500 and has just a 16.67% chance of coming out victorious. Very slim. Brighton has won back-to-back games against Wolves, outscoring them 6-2 in the process.
Match Preview
Brighton did have European aspirations at one point this term, but they’ve slowly diminished. Nevertheless, this can be considered a successful campaign despite Graham Potter leaving for the job at Chelsea only to get fired. The Seagulls are five points behind sixth-place Aston Villa and realistically still have a shot at playing in Europa or the Conference League in 2023-24.
However, the South Coast outfit is fresh off a dismal result Wednesday at Forest. Brighton went into halftime in a 1-1 deadlock, but things turned for the worst in the second period, with the hosts scoring twice. The worst part? Brighton had 75% of the possession and far more opportunities, yet they simply couldn’t capitalize. That’s now three defeats in the last four games for the Seagulls.
Wolves don’t have much to be happy about, occupying 13th place in the EPL table with a 10-7-16 record. Their goal difference is extremely concerning, scoring just 29 times in 33 matches while conceding 44. No one in this squad is consistently producing in the final third.
That being said, Julen Lopetegui’s squad has been playing decent football in recent weeks, winning three of their last four. That includes victories over Chelsea and Brentford before taking down Crystal Palace on Tuesday at the Molineux. An own goal put the hosts ahead early before Ruben Neves sealed the deal in injury time from the penalty spot.
Brighton vs Wolves Picks
Wolves are a rejuvenated side as of late. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them secure a draw here. At +335, it’s worth a bet.
