Take a stand against last year’s winner A Plus Tard. Though his form in the last two years of this race has been good, he pulled up last time out. At a stone under top weight, he is well-assigned, and he is interesting at his best.
Two others who can find the frame are Minella Indo and Stattler. Only a neck apart in the New Year’s Day Chase (G3) this year, both face tougher. But Minella Indo won the Gold Cup two years ago, was second last year, and loves this course. Stattler has the class to prove, but he is consistent and gets a better weight assignment than Minella Indo this time.
