As the riders arrive at the Indonesian Grand Prix, two-time defending Moto GP series champion Francesco Bagnaia is looking less and less like someone who is going to threepeat as champion.
The Italian Ducati Lenovo rider’s summer of success is turning into a fall of, well, falls. At last week’s Gran Premio Pramac dell’Emilia-Romagna, Bagnaia crashed out of the race.
Oddsmakers, though, are continuing to ride with Bagnaia. The reigning two-time defending series champ is set as the +200 favorite to win the Indonesian Grand Prix.
Let’s check out the latest MotoGP online betting odds for this race:
Indonesian Grand Prix Odds | |||
---|---|---|---|
Francesco Bagnaia | +200 | +200 | +200 |
Jorge Martin | +250 | +250 | +250 |
Marc Marquez | +275 | +275 | +275 |
Enea Bastianini | +600 | +600 | +600 |
Maverick Vinales | +1600 | +1600 | +1600 |
Brad Binder | +2000 | +2000 | +2000 |

Fabio Quartararo | +6000 | +6000 | +6000 |
Fabio Di Giannantonio | +8000 | +8000 | +8000 |
However, it would appear that those who set the betting lines are less sold on Bagnaia’s credentials. Both series leader Jorge Martin (+250) and eight-time MotoGP champ Marc Marquez (+275) are also being given short odds to win the Indonesian Grand Prix.

Bagnaia has won 50% of the MotoGP main events this season, with seven victories through 14 races. However, he’s now gone a season-high three races without a win. In fact, he’s been forced to retire through crashes in tow of those three races.
In last week’s Gran Premio Pramac dell’Emilia-Romagna, Bagnaia was running third on Lap 21 when he wobbled entering a turn and his bike came out from under him. Fortunately for the reigning two-time champion, only his pride was suffering injury. However, Bagnaia now finds himself 24 points in arrears to series leader Jorge Martin.
Up until his crash, Bagnaia was looking promising. He had closed the gap between himself and the leaders by a full two seconds. He’d already won the pole position for the race and recorded the race’s fastest lap.
While Bagnaia was dusting himself off, his Ducati Lenovo teammate Enea Bastianini was leaving Martin in the dust. He won the race, nipping past MotoGP series leader Martin on the last lap of the race to claim the checkered flag.
It was just his second win of the 2024 MotoGP season. However, Bastianini shows eight podium finishes in 14 races, including a pair of second-place performances. He turned the fastest lap in last year’s Indonesian Grand Prix. However, Bastianini would finish a disappointing eighth in the race.
Another second-place finish from the ever-consistent Martin enabled him to further widen the gap between himself and Bagnaia in the MotoGP championship chase. Over the course of 14 races, Martin has taken just two checkered flags. On the other hand, no rider is more familiar with the podium than the Spanish rider for the Ducati Primo Pramac Racing team.
His second-place result at the Gran Premio Pramac dell’Emilia-Romagna was the sixth of the year for Martin. He’s ended up second overall in four of the past five races. And it’s that consistency which has him pulling away from the field in pursuit of the overall season championship.
For the third successive race, Marquez found himself situated on the podium. However, his two-race win streak came to an end. And with Bastianini’s victory, he was moving past Marquez into third spot in the MotoGP championship race.
Marquez has finished no worse than fourth in 10 of the past 11 MotoGP races. He didn’t much enjoy his Indonesian Grand Prix experience last year, though. Marquez would finish 19th in the race.
Over the course of the past two races, Martin has been increasing his lead atop the MotoGP standings. He’s outpointed Bagnaia 71-42 over the past three races, reclaiming the series lead. Martin has since extended his advantage to 24 points.
In the latest MotoGP futures odds, Martin is the -200 odds-on favorite to win the championship. Bagnaia is currently being given a betting line of +200.
Martin did win the sprint at last year’s Indonesian Grand Prix. But it was Bagnaia who won the race.
To the steady goes the race. And at some point again this season, Martin’s steadiness must be rewarded with another race win.
He’s right there at the front every race week. Martin’s big picture process is preventing him from making that race-changing mistake. Another win, especially if Bagnaia continues to stumble, could cement him as champion.
