The Ottawa Senators and Nasvhille Predators are polar opposites of late on the ice and also in the NHL picks. Ottawa has won four in a row, jumping to third in the Atlantic Division. Meanwhile, Nashville has dropped four successive games. The Predators are second-last in the Central Division.
Despite Ottawa’s recent success, oddsmakers are leaning toward the home team in this tilt. The Predators are set as -125 home favorites.
Let’s look at the latest betting line on this game. Remember odds are subject to change.
Ottawa Senators | +1.5 (-240) | +111 | O 5.5 (-111) |
Nashville Predators | -1.5 (+200) | -125 | U 5.5 (-105) |
As the only game on a very quiet Monday NHL schedule, after checking the current NHL odds, we’re left with no choice but to select the Ottawa Senators vs the Nashville Predators as being the best bet worth taking in the NHL picks. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s jump right into our betting prediction.
When checking the NHL betting lines at any of the leading Vegas sports betting sites, you’ll find that the surging Senators are climbing as a contender in the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup odds. The Senators and Predators have split their last 10 meetings 5-5.
Generally, when the Senators are visiting, the Predators are rolling out the welcome mat to welcome Ottawa to town. The Predators are 8-1 straight up the last nine times they’ve played host to the Senators. Overall, though, Ottawa has won two out of three and three out of five from Nashville. However, Ottawa is 7-13 SU in the last 20 clashes with Nashville.
Ottawa is 4-1 SU through the past five games. The Senators are 9-4 SU in their last 13 games facing Western Conference opponents and 6-3 SU when their opposition comes from the Central Division. Ottawa is 3-8 SU in the club’s past 11 road games.
Nashville is 1-4 SU in its past five games, but 4-1 SU in the club’s last five home games. The Predators are 2-13 SU in their past 15 meetings with Eastern Conference squads. Nashville is 1-9 SU in 10 games this season against Atlantic Division teams.
Ottawa’s last two games both went over. Prior to that, though five Senators games in a row went under. The under is 9-0-2 in Ottawa’s past 11 road games. The total hit on the under in each of the Senators’ last seven road games and in 12 of 15 games overall.
The NHL picks show each of the last five games between the Predators and Senators played in Nashville went under. Overall, seven of the past eight meetings between the two teams went under. On the other hand, five of Nashville’s past seven games hit for the over. Four of the last five times the Predators were playing a team from the Atlantic Division, the under was also the winning play on the total.
Ottawa is 11-11 SU as a betting underdog this season. The Senators are 12-15 against the puck line as a road team. Nashville is 10-14 against the puck line on home ice. The Predators are 13-18-3 SU when set as the favorite in the betting line.
It’s notable that Ottawa’s current four-game win streak all came via home-ice victories. The Senators are 0-2 SU in their last two road games, and 1-3 SU over their last four trips into enemy territory.
Overall, though, Ottawa is rolling along at 9-2-1 SU through the club’s past 12 games. A potent offense is powering this Senators surge. Ottawa has scored 16 goals over the past four games and 11 goals through the last two wins. The Senators handed one of the best teams in the Central, the Minnesota Wild, a 6-0 drubbing in their last game.
Ottawa netted three power-play goals in the rout of the Wild. The Senators have also scored four shorthanded goals over the last three games. Forward Tim Stutzle has complied 2-5-7 totals during the four-game win streak.
Ottawa needs to pack this attack for the road trip. In their last two away games, the Senators were shutout – 5-0 at the New York Rangers and 2-0 at the Boston Bruins.
Nashville’s current four-game skid comes on the heels of a season-high five-game winning streak. Steven Stamkos, Nashville’s key offseason free-agent addition, has gone pointless over the past four games.
Leading scorer Filip Forsberg (18-31-49) is also pointless in the last three games. Nashville has scored just six goals during its four-game slide.
Center Tommy Novak has 2-3-5 totals in Nashville’s last three home games. Goalie Juuse Saros has lost his last three starts. Backup Justus Annunen has allowed nine goals over his past two appearances.
The Senators have just gotten better and better as the season has gone on. Even in the absence of No. 1 goalie Linus Ullmark through injury, they’ve kept winning. Finnish rookie Leevi Merilainen has three shutouts in 11 NHL starts.
As much as it’s easy to study the past trends that show Ottawa’s struggles in Nashville and on the road, this is a different Senators team. And it’s a much different Predators team, and not in a good way. Take Ottawa to win as an away underdog in the Monday Vegas NHL picks.
