The NFL season is slowly coming to an end, with the playoffs only about a month away. While betting on games is a great way to make some money, so if futures. In the NFL Offensive Player of the Year mix, Miami Dolphins superstar Tyreek Hill is a large favorite to win the award with -300 odds. After him, it’s Christian McCaffrey at +225, CeeDee Lamb (+1600), and AJ Brown (+3300). Below, we’ll discuss the history around this award and preview the NFL Offensive Player of the Year futures.
NFL Offensive Player of the Year is typically won by a wide receiver, running back, or quarterback. Justin Jefferson took home the honors last year, while Cooper Kupp won it the year before. By the looks of it, another WR will capture the award again.
Tyreek Hill (-300)
Is this really any surprise? Absolutely not. Tyreek Hill is on pace to become the first NFL receiver to ever hit the 2000-yard mark in a single season. Heading into Week 14, he’s reeled in 93 catches for a league-leading 1,481 yards and 12 touchdowns. Cheetah is an electric player every single game. It’s rare to see him not perform. At -300 odds, it’s almost a foregone conclusion that Hill will win it. Despite being such a fantastic player for years, he’s never won OPOY. Although there’s still a handful of contests left, Hill is in line to be named the winner. And by the looks of it, the Dolphins should be a contender in the AFC with one of the better records in the league.
Christian McCaffrey (+225)
Yes, the 49ers have so many weapons at Brock Purdy’s disposal, but CMC might be the most important and most productive one. The running back is truly a Swiss Army knife for the NFC powerhouse, leading them in rushing and receiving. He’s reeled in 51 catches for 429 and four touchdowns while rushing for nearly five yards per carry (1,032 yards in total and 12 scores). McCaffrey has found a home in San Francisco and you can see what he’s capable of when healthy consistently. It may be hard for CMC to overtake Tyreek in the race for OPOY, but regardless, he remains a focal point for the Niners and their Super Bowl aspirations. After all, he just cooked the Eagles defense in a Week 13 blowout.
CeeDee Lamb (+1600)
Although Dak Prescott is leading the MVP race, he wouldn’t be in this position without WR1 CeeDee Lamb. The former Oklahoma standout has a team-best 90 receptions for 1,182 yards and seven touchdowns for an average of 13.1 yards per catch. 2022 was a breakout campaign with 107 grabs but it appears Lamb is on track to hit that mark or even surpass it. Lamb has reeled in 11 or more catches on five occasions in 23′ and remains Dak’s most reliable weapon downfield. CeeDee isn’t that far behind Hill in terms of touchdowns, yards, and grabs, but he’ll need to go on quite the heater in order to catch him while hoping Cheetah slows down himself.
AJ Brown (+3300)
AJ Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles is the biggest longshot and it’s understandable why. While he’s a fantastic wideout who has 81 catches for 1,164 yards and seven TDs this season, there have been games where he’s not targeted as much. For example, a few weeks ago he had just one reception in a win over the Kansas City Chiefs, with DeVonta Smith getting involved a lot more than him. It just seems like from week to week, we don’t always see Brown as the focal point of Jalen Hurts’ offense. That doesn’t take away from his importance, though. But when it comes to winning Offensive Player of the Year, it is very unlikely.
NFL Offensive Player of the Year Futures Picks
It does appear to be pretty obvious who is going to win OPOY. Obviously put some money down on Tyreek Hill, but it also doesn’t hurt to splash some cash on CMC considering how many ways he impacts every game for the 49ers.
