While Thanksgiving and Black Friday has a plethora of games as part of the Week 12 slate, Sunday brings arguably the most intriguing of the lot. The Buffalo Bills will head to the City of Brotherly Love to face the surging Philadelphia Eagles. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:25 PM EST at Lincoln Financial Field. Buffalo is coming off a statement win over the New York Jets but need to keep performing, only sitting at 6-5 right now. As for the Birds, they just beat the Kansas City Chiefs 21-17 in a Super Bowl rematch, making it clear that another appearance in the prestigious game is very much possible next February. Below, find the Bills vs Eagles picks.
By no surprise, the Eagles are the -168 moneyline favorite here. The Bills come back at +148. Philadelphia is laying just three points on the spread but has covered in the last two meetings with Buffalo, which both ended up being wins. In fact, they’ve won four of the previous five against the Bills.
Tough Stretch For Buffalo
The Bills are on the bubble of clinching a spot in the playoffs and these next few weeks will likely make or break them. Sean McDermott’s squad faces the Eagles, has a bye week, takes on the Chiefs, and then will clash with the Dallas Cowboys. That’s probably the toughest three-game stretch of any team right now. It’s going to be a good test to see if this group is ready to be a contender again or not.
Buffalo lost back-to-back games to the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos before responding with a massive 32-6 victory last Sunday at home versus the Jets. This was a contest where we truly saw why the Bills have always been in the postseason mix in recent years. Josh Allen completed 20 of 32 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns against one interception. He also got a plethora of options involved. Khalil Shakir had a career day wit three catches for 115 yards, while Dalton Kincaid reeled in six receptions for 46 yards. Stefon Diggs only had four catches, but it didn’t matter.
The Bills outgained New York 393 to 155 and also showed out defensively. However, the Jets aren’t exactly electric offensively. The Buffalo defense will face a much taller task on Sunday with Jalen Hurts and Co. With the Dolphins sitting at 7-3 and set to face Gang Green on Black Friday, which is almost certainly going to be a win, the Bills need a victory in Week 12, too. It’s not a must-win but it’s close.
Eagles Are Legit
Guess who has the best record in the league once again? The Eagles. To be frank, they should probably be a perfect 10-0. A loss to the Jets in Week 6 was very out of character. Philadelphia is very solid on both sides of the ball, ranking fifth in points scored, eighth in total yards, and eighth in rushing yards. Although Hurts’ numbers aren’t great, he’s getting it done when it matters most, both with the arm and his legs. The QB has completed 68.5% of his passes for 2,497 yards and 15 TDs against nine picks.
Hurts’ brilliance on the ground shined through in KC last Monday. He had two rushing scores, which proved to be the difference-maker. The 25-year-old also went 14 for 22 for 150 yards. AJ Brown wasn’t happy with a mere one catch in this one, but DeVonta Smith showed out with six grabs for 99 yards. Defensively, the Eagles managed to shut down Mahomes and Co. completely in the second half, not allowing a single point. That may be the most impressive part.
In fairness though, it wasn’t Mahomes’ fault. Travis Kelce had a rare but costly fumble and Marquez Valdes-Scantling dropped a crucial pass from the KC quarterback. That victory for Philly will surely instill confidence if they even need it. The Eagles are now riding a four-game winning streak but have a tough stretch ahead as well, facing the 49ers and Cowboys in Week 13 and Week 14, respectively.
Bills vs Eagles Picks
Good luck beating the Eagles at home, who are a perfect 4-0 in 23′ when playing in front of Birds fans. This team is too good to bet against right now. I expect them to take care of the Bills. Hammer the moneyline.
