With it already being December, it’s time to take a look at some of the best player performances thus far in the NFL. And with that, things continue to heat up when it comes to the individual awards, of course including MVP. Who are the favorites? In this piece, we have NFL updated players props for 2021 season, with many guys standing out above the rest of the pack.
Tom Brady is the new favorite to take home MVP honors
In a bit of a stunner, Tom Brady is the new favorite to take home MVP honors this winter. Earlier in the year, it was looking like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen or Aaron Rodgers would be the ones to lead the battle here. Oh, how things have changed now that the postseason is right around the corner. Brady is in the middle of another brilliant season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With Brady playing so well, the Bucs are among the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Last season, Tampa Bay went on to shock the world when they won it all. Time and time again Brady made his doubters look foolish. People are still talking about him taking down Drew Brees and the Saints in New Orleans. What about beating Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
Then of course Brady outplayed Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs to win his seventh Super Bowl ring. Because of Brady’s outstanding play this year, he once again has TB looking like serious threats to go back-to-back in taking home the Lombardi Trophy, as they have high NFL playoff odds. Brady is a future Hall-of-Famer and he’ll go down as one of the best quarterbacks to ever hit the field.
According to the best rated online sportsbooks, Brady indeed is the favorite to win MVP with his +300 NFL Vegas odds. Others in contention are Allen, Rodgers, Mahomes, Kyler Murray and Dak Prescott. While there’s multiple quarterbacks who will try and snatch the honor away from Brady. We don’t see it happening. We’re picking Brady as our pick to win MVP. Agree? Mac Jones should run away with Offensive Rookie of the Year
Elsewhere in terms of player props, Mac Jones should run away with Offensive Rookie of the Year this season. Has there been a better rookie on the field than Jones? No chance. While Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and Zach Wilson were picked earlier in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Jones has no doubt been the best of the best in terms of powering his team.
Jones is the long-term replacement for Brady, who of course left New England prior to the 2020 season getting underway. Jones beat out Cam Newton in training camp for the starting job and he hasn’t looked back since. Thanks to Jones’ strong play, New England is looking like a real threat in the AFC. When it was first announced that Jones would be QB, many were worried about growing pains.
Instead, Jones has played well beyond his years. What’s been great to see is him develop such a strong relationship early on with his receivers. Both Jakobi Meyers and Kendrick Bourne have really looked sharp in recent games. For Bourne, he was a stud for the San Francisco 49ers, but then signed a three-year deal with the Pats during last offseason.
Bourne is loved by Jones and head coach Bill Belichick. In terms of OROY, Jones holds the top odds at -260, while Ja’Marr Chase, Najee Harris, Fields and Kyle Pitts are also in contention. In this case, however, there should be no doubt that Jones should be the one to get the award. He’s flourished in his short time with the Pats. This man is our pick, no doubt.
Micah Parsons is the overwhelming favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year
On the other side of things, Micah Parsons is the overwhelming favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. Parsons has been an absolute monster for the Dallas Cowboys, which really has fans excited about the future of the defense. A first-round pick out of Penn State, the star linebacker has caused plenty of havoc for opposing offenses thanks to his great play.
Parsons does a fantastic job of putting pressure on quarterbacks, while also being a sure tackler. It’s been fantastic to see for Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy. Thanks to Parsons’ great style of play, the Dallas defense as a whole really looks like a totally different unit this season. It has them virtually as a lock to win the NFC East this year, which is awesome.
Currently, Parsons has -2000 odds to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. That tells you that it would be a major upset if he didn’t win it. Others trying to steal it from him are Patrick Surtain, Jayson Oweh, Jamin Davis and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. From our chair, though, there’s simply no way Parsons doesn’t win it. We’re going with Parsons as our pick for sure here.
