Has there been a more fun start to the season in the NFL than we’ve seen thus far this fall? Not a chance. Fanbases are already dreaming of Super Bowl trips, and in the AFC, teams are showing out left and right, including the Bills and Chiefs. This piece has our NFL AFC champion pick for the 2022 season. Who will end up making it to the big game?
Bills hold the top odds of winning the AFC
As has been the case for a while now, the Bills hold the top odds to win the AFC. This will always be the case when you have Josh Allen as your quarterback. Not only are the Bills the favorites to win the conference, but they also have the top Super Bowl betting odds. Again, with Allen playing so well and the defense stepping up, Buffalo is looking dangerous.
With the Bills, Allen leads the way, but Stefon Diggs and Dawson Knox are fantastic at catching the ball. Not only them, but Gabriel Davis is playing out of his mind right now. He had two long touchdowns in the Week 5 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. For the defense, Von Miller has been a fantastic addition to the unit. He’s a future Hall of Famer, and he has a ton left in the tank.
In Buffalo’s way, though, are teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and more in the AFC. The Chiefs are a serious threat with Patrick Mahomes running the offense, as Mahomes looks like an MVP front-runner this season. The only question mark for the Chiefs is their secondary, as the young group struggles a little bit.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Bills hold +200 NFL betting odds to win the AFC. Right behind them are the Kansas City Chiefs, who have been set at +350. It’d be an electric showdown if these two teams meet in the AFC Championship Game. Believe it or not, we’re going with a different squad to win the AFC this winter.
Baltimore is our pick to win the AFC Championship Game
Some people might think this is a stretch, but Baltimore is our pick to win the AFC Championship Game this year. Why? We’ve got two words for you: Lamar Jackson. Jackson bet on himself and didn’t agree to a monster extension with the Ravens ahead of the campaign. Plenty of people thought he was in the wrong, but Jackson has proved so many people wrong.
With Jackson playing so strong, Baltimore is 3-2 on the season and the favorite to win the AFC North. This team was on the verge of taking down the Buffalo Bills earlier this season, but they blew a monster lead. John Harbaugh was under fire for that loss, but it appears to be water under the bridge, and now fans are dreaming of these two teams meeting in the postseason.
On defense for Baltimore, the play of the safeties and cornerbacks will always be a strong point. This could help the team against Buffalo in the playoffs, as the Bills are known for their great aerial attack. Marcus Peters leads the way for the defensive backs, and he plays with unmatched swagger. Peters is one of the best in the game, and that will not change soon. He has a ton of confidence on the field as well.
Per the oddsmakers, the Ravens hold +750 Vegas betting odds to win the AFC and then move on to the Super Bowl. Those aren’t great numbers compared to the Chiefs and Bills, but this squad is built to impress, and Jackson will surely be in the MVP conversation. Baltimore has the chance to make a statement in the coming months. They’re our pick to win the AFC, and we think more good news could be coming too.
With the Ravens playing so well, could Baltimore go on to win the Super Bowl? The fact of the matter here is that the winner of the AFC figures to become the favorite to win it all. It’s a down year in the NFC, though the Eagles are the lone undefeated team. Despite that, the AFC is far superior to the NFC, and we don’t think the Eagles will be a serious Super Bowl contender.
The same can’t be said for whoever wins the AFC. The Ravens hold +1400 Super Bowl odds, which we think is a slap to Harbaugh, Jackson, Peters, and others. Baltimore has what it takes to bring the Lombardi Trophy hope this season, and we like their chances. Those odds should increase for the rest of the season if they keep playing well on both sides of the ball. Look for Baltimore to make a splash come late January in the playoffs.
