Last week, National Football League fans could enjoy the first week of preseason games, and there were plenty of head-turning performances. More of the same will be on the way in the coming days, you better believe that. In this piece, we have NFL picks for Week 2 of preseason action, which fans can’t wait to see. Which teams will record some big wins?
First, in our list, the NY Giants should take down the Cincinnati Bengals when they face off on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium. While Cincinnati surely is the better team, as the AFC North side made it to the Super Bowl last year, it was announced earlier this week that the team wouldn’t be playing its starters against the Giants. That means no Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Joe Mixon and more.
On the other hand, NY Giants head coach Brian Daboll has already said that his starters will be in action for this one. Will they play more than the first quarter, potentially the first half? That remains to be seen, but Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay and more will be out there. That will be big for the Giants, especially with this game at MetLife Stadium.

This is also going to be an important game for people like Jones. Fans haven’t been overly impressed with his play, so the hope is that he can take a big step in the showdown vs. Cincy. If Jones can have a solid first half, that will be big for his confidence. Even when he comes out of the action, Tyrod Taylor, who looked sharp vs. the Pats, will be ready to play well too.

Elsewhere, another contest is the one between Seattle and Chicago. Yup, the Seahawks vs. Bears should be a good one, and the fans at Lumen Field are ready to make plenty of noise. For the Seahawks, they’re still trying to figure things out at quarterback, as no one knows who will start the Week 1 opener against the Broncos now that Russell Wilson is out of town.
Right now, it’s a battle between Geno Smith and Drew Lock. Earlier this offseason, plenty of people would have assumed that it would have been Lock to win the job, but Smith has looked sharp both in training camp and in last weekend’s preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Will Smith or Lock win the job? That remains to be seen here.
As for Chicago, Justin Fields is, of course, the starting QB for this team, but he’s lacking wide receiver options, which has been rough to see. He’s going to hope to build some chemistry with his guys the rest of the preseason. Will they be able to do so against the Seahawks? The coaching staff sure is hoping so. Seattle’s defence could allow them to do that.
Per the oddsmakers, Seattle holds -200 odds, while the Bears have been placed at +170. It goes without saying that both these teams don’t have the best Super Bowl odds going into 2022, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make noise this weekend. This will be a close game, but we’re going with the Seahawks as our pick to take down Chicago this weekend.
Lastly, before you make your wagers, remember that the Packers will be without Aaron Rodgers for Saints game. Rodgers missed the first preseason game of the summer, and head coach Matt LaFleur already announced that he won’t be taking on New Orleans either. This means that former first-round pick Jordan Love will get the start for the Packers.
While Love has potential, he continues to show that he’s not good enough to be the starter for this team just yet. Nothing will change with Rodgers, as he’s the QB for this team 1,000 per cent. In this preseason game, though, Love simply has to step his game up and help the Packers offence take a step forward. If not, more people will complain about his inability to improve.
As for the Saints, they may hold +135 odds for this one, with the Packers at -160, but they’re going to be ready to impress plenty of folks. Will an upset be coming soon? We think so, as we’re going with the Saints as our pick to record a needed victory in this one.
