What: Tennessee Titans vs Miami Dolphins – Week 14
Where: Hard Rock Stadium
When: Monday, December 11th, 8:15 PM EST
Week 14 concludes on Monday Night Football with a pair of games. Among them is a matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins. The kick-off is scheduled for 8:15 PM EST at Hard Rock Stadium in South Beach. Tennessee isn’t exactly in contention and at this point, Will Levis is just looking to get some more reps at the NFL level. They lost to the Indianapolis Colts in overtime in Week 13. Miami meanwhile continues to keep it rolling, winning three in a row. That includes a massive 45-15 victory over the Washington Commanders a week ago. Given these two teams are on opposite sides of the spectrum, it’s understandable why Mike McDaniel’s group is such a big favorite. Below, find the Titans vs Dolphins picks.
The Dolphins are sitting at -800 on the moneyline for an implied win probability of 88.89%. The Titans come back at +580 and has a mere 14.71% chance of coming out victorious. Miami is also laying 13 points on the spread and has gone 8-4 ATS in 2023. Tennessee actually hammered the Dolphins last season but before that, Miami won three of four.
New Era For Titans?
Ryan Tannehill suffered an ankle injury earlier in the season that caused him to miss some time, but he hasn’t been slotted back in as QB1 since returning. Now, it appears the keys to the offense are in the hands of rookie Will Levis. While the Titans sit at 4-8 on the year and clearly out of playoff contention, the former Kentucky standout has shown some promise. He’s completed 57.8% of his passes for 1,266 yards and seven touchdowns against two interceptions in six games so far. While the completion rate isn’t spectacular, his numbers overall aren’t awful.
Levis was 16 for 33 for 224 yards and a touchdown last weekend against the Indianapolis Colts, also getting sacked six times. The offensive line didn’t do him any favors. The run game is what cooked here, with Derrick Henry and Tyjae Spears combined for nearly 200 yards rushing. Henry had 102 on his own and a pair of touchdowns. Although Tennessee is struggling offensively as a whole, their RB room is a bright spot at times.
Out wide, DeAndre Hopkins had five catches for 75 yards and a score, but outside of him, there wasn’t a lot of production. Levis had a tough time finding chemistry with his receivers on this day. With the playoffs out of the conversation right now, it’s a matter of Levis growing and proving he is the QB of the future in Nashville. There’s been mixed reviews thus far, but we’ll have a better idea once the regular season finishes.
Dolphins an Offensive Powerhouse
The first thing that comes to mind when you think of this Dolphins team is offense. After numerous concussions in 2022, Tua Tagovailoa has bounced back with authority this season, leading Miami to ranking 1st in total yards and passing yards while sitting second in points and rushing yards. In every offensive aspect, the Dolphins are thriving. Tua is having a career year, posting a 70.1% completion rate for 3,457 yards and 24 touchdowns against 10 picks. The only knock on his stats is 10 fumbles, but only four were actually lost.
The backfield is unstoppable, with Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane forming a lethal partnership. The latter is averaging nearly 10 yards per carry, but he’s missed quite a bit of time through injury. Mostert is also averaging 5.1 yards per run. Out wide, well, Tyreek Hill is the star of the show. He’s on pace to potentially hit the 2000-yard mark, which has never been done by a receiver. Cheetah is well on his way to winning the Offensive Player of the Year, too. He has 93 receptions for 1,481 yards and 12 touchdowns, leading the NFL in all three categories. Jaylen Waddle also has 57 grabs for 743 yards and three scores.
Miami was firing on all cylinders in Week 13, exposing a Washington defense that traded away Montez Sweat and Chase Young. Tua threw for 280 yards and linked up with Hill twice for two TDs. The running backs meanwhile combined for three touchdowns, with Achane having two in his return from injury. The Dolphins outgained the Commanders 406-245. Dominant, to say the least.
Titans vs Dolphins Picks
The Dolphins are great ATS and clearly a much better team than the Titans. I have a difficult time believing Tennessee can stop them, therefore the spread looks like a great bet here.
