The 2024 Super Bowl is now in the rearview, with the Kansas City Chiefs winning it all for the second year in a row as they beat the San Francisco 49ers in a nail-biter game in Las Vegas. Patrick Mahomes and Co. are building a dynasty in the mid-west and there’s no signs of them slowing down. The sportsbooks clearly believe the same, with the Chiefs leading the way in the 2025 Super Bowl futures at +500 odds. Brock Purdy and the Niners aren’t far behind at +600, while the Detroit Lions (+700), Baltimore Ravens (+1200), Buffalo Bills (+1200), and Cincinnati Bengals (+1200) are expected to be in the mix, too.
Three Super Bowl titles in the last five years. It’s safe to say Andy Reid is building something extraordinary in Kansas City. Despite having a rather average offense for most of the year, the Chiefs stepped up when it mattered most with Mahomes at the helm. The signal-caller had a bit of a down season with 27 touchdowns against 14 interceptions, but he got it done in the playoffs with the help of guys like Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, and Isaiah Pacheco, among others. KC also just locked up defensive star Chris Jones to a new deal, keeping him with the Chiefs for the foreseeable future. you can expect GM Brett Veach to go out in free agency and do his absolute best to find Mahomes some more weapons so they can be in contention again in 2024. Do not sleep on Kansas City.
49ers (+600)
San Francisco was seen as a Super Bowl favorite all season long but came up short due to the Chiefs again, who also beat them in 2020. That being said, the Niners are truly built for success for years to come. Brock Purdy is evidently the QB of the future in the Bay Area and even had himself in the MVP conversation in 23′, completing 69.4% of his passes for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns while throwing 11 passes. He was consistent every week. Plus, you can’t ignore the talent around him. Christina McCaffrey had a historic year, while George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Kyle Juszczyk, and Elijah Mitchell are all important pieces as well. San Fran had a top-10 offense and defense this past season and was on the verge of winning the Super Bowl if it wasn’t for a crucial mistake late in the game. They will be very hungry to get back there and have too much talent not to at least return to the NFC Championship.
Lions (+700)
The Lions showed promise in 2022 and had everyone keeping their eye out. 23′ saw them completely break out as one of the best teams in the NFL. Dan Campbell’s squad went 12-5 en route to the NFC North title and gave the Niners a serious run for their money in the NFC Championship. Jared Goff has reinvented himself in Motown and he’s got countless weapons. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, Jahmyr Gibbs, and David Montgomery are all studs. Defensively, Detroit could improve a bit but their offense is elite. There’s no one reason they won’t win the division again and be a serious playoff team.
Ravens (+1200)
Baltimore had every shot to win a Super Bowl this past season and was picked by many to be the ones to represent the AFC in the big game. But, they folded under pressure in the AFC Championship against the Chiefs, losing 17-10. Regardless, we can’t take anything away from what Lamar Jackson did, completing 67.2% of his throws for 3,678 yards and 24 TDs against seven INTs. He also ran for nearly 1,000 yards. Lamar won MVP, leading the Ravens to a 13-4 record. With a very strong roster on both sides of the ball, expect Baltimore to be back in the mix in 24′.
Bills, Bengals Ones to Watch
The Bills have been a contender for years but can’t seem to get over the hump and actually play in a Super Bowl. Josh Allen is a great quarterback and while Buffalo did finish the year strong, they had a brutal start. It was an uphill battle. The Bills need more consistency.
As for the Bengals, they lost Joe Burrow mid-way through the campaign to an injury, putting a damper on their Super Bowl hopes. But, this is still a very good team when Burrow is healthy, as we’ve seen in past years. Both the Bills and Bengals are priced at +1200, which may offer some value.
2025 Super Bowl Futures Picks
With the season so far away and free agency just opening up, it’s a great time to put money down on a few different teams. You can’t ignore the Chiefs and 49ers, first off. But, I’m also liking the Ravens and Bengals. With the odds still offering a lot of value, several wagers are best.
