What: Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers – Week 14
Where: Levi’s Stadium
When: Sunday, December 10th, 4:05 PM EST
The Seattle Seahawks (6-6) will be looking to keep their playoff aspirations alive on Sunday, December 10th when they visit the NFC West-leading San Francisco 49ers (9-3) at Levi’s Stadium. The kick-off for this divisional showdown is scheduled for 4:05 PM EST. Seattle is coming off a third straight loss in Week 13, this time to the Dallas Cowboys. That’s dropped them to 1-4 in their last five outings. The Niners meanwhile just made a statement, rolling into Lincoln Financial and blowing out the Philadelphia Eagles, the same team that eliminated them in the NFC Championship last season. San Francisco is not short on confidence and Brock Purdy is playing like an MVP. Keep reading for our Seahawks vs 49ers picks.
The Niners are a big -585 favorite. They’re also laying 10.5 points on the spread. The struggling Hawks return at +465. The total is set at 46.5 points. Week 12 saw these two teams meet and San Francisco hammered Seattle 31-13. With home-field advantage here, it could be another big win. Only time will tell.
Seahawks in Trouble
Seattle started the season on a very positive note and sat at 6-3 with their eyes set on the playoffs. But, since then, they’ve lost to the Rams, 49ers, and Cowboys. Two divisional defeats could be the worst part. With their backs up against the wall, the Seahawks must win on Sunday because it won’t get any easier with the Eagles up next in Week 15.
In fairness, Pete Carroll’s squad certainly gave the Cowboys a run for their money last Thursday, but it wasn’t enough, losing 41-35. Geno Smith looked like the 2022 Geno Smith, throwing for 334 yards and three touchdowns, with star wideout DK Metcalf collecting all three. He had six receptions for 134 yards, while rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba grabbed seven catches for 62 yards. Dallas only outgained the Hawks 411-406 and Seattle cooked them downfield, with 334 passing yards. The difference-maker in this one was a late Jake Ferguson touchdown where Jamal Adams failed to cover the tight end.
Defense was certainly the issue in Week 13 and to be frank, they’ve looked average all year. Seattle ranks 25th in points allowed and total yards allowed while sitting towards the bottom of the NFL in numerous other categories. Beating the 49ers is going to be an extremely tall task, especially at Levi’s. But, if the Seahawks lose another, the playoffs are going to feel like a longshot. Geno has to have another big day.
49ers Are Legit
All eyes were focused on a Week 13 matchup between the 49ers and Eagles. After all, it’s probably going to come down to these two as to who represents the NFC in the Super Bowl. The trash talk was happening all week long and San Francisco knew they had to go into Philly and make their presence felt and that’s exactly what Kyle Shanahan’s squad did.
The Niners didn’t just beat the Birds. They hammered them 42-19. Purdy proved why he is one of the best quarterbacks in the sport, completing 19 of 27 passes for 314 yards and four touchdowns. In fact, he’s jumped up to the MVP favorite after the win. Deebo Samuel was the standout here with three touchdowns in total and 138 yards. He was lethal both on the ground and through the air. Christian McCaffrey had another huge outing too, rushing for 5.5 yards per carry. In every aspect, San Francisco flourished.
Sunday’s victory made it clear that the Niners are one of the teams to beat in the NFL. That’s now four wins in a row for them after a three-game losing skid. Also, San Fran has four straight victories against the Seahawks, also beating them in the playoffs last year en route to the NFC Title Game.
Seahawks vs 49ers Picks
Betting against such a complete team like the 49ers who are riding a high right now would be foolish. The Seahawks will lose another. With the moneyline offering little value, take San Francisco to cover the spread.
