As expected, the two divisional champions will square off in the 106th Grey Cup at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 25.
The Calgary Stampeders, who reached the league championship for the third consecutive year, are the overwhelming favorites (-210) on the CFL betting lines to win their eighth title in league history. They will meet the best in the East in the Ottawa Redblacks (+175), who have played in two of the last three Grey Cups (odds provided by Bovada).
This is the fifth time the CFL championship game has been played outdoors in Edmonton at Commonwealth Stadium.
Grey Cup Odds Explained
The Stampeders are the pick on the money line at -210 and they are four-point favorites against the spread. The over/under totals betting line is listed at 53.5 points.
To cash a winning ticket on the Stampeders, a bettor would have to wager $210 to earn a $100 profit ($210 bet + $100 profit = $310 total return). To cash a winning ticket on the Redblack, a bettor would have to wager $100 to earn a profit of $175 ($100 bet + $175 profit = $275 total return).
Since Calgary is a four-point favorite, the Stamps must win by five or more points if a bettor selects the West champs against the spread. If a bettor selects the East champs, the Redblack either have to win the game outright or lose by three points or less. If Calgary wins by exactly four points, all bets are a push.
To win on the over in the totals bet of 53.5, the final score for both teams must total 54 points or more. To win on the under in the totals bet, the final score must total 53 points or less.
Stamps Sweep Season Series
The Stampeders dominated both regular season games. In Week 3, Calgary pulled away in the fourth quarter in a low-scoring affair, 24-14. In Week 5, the Stamps led 20-0 at halftime and cruised to victory in another low-scoring effort, 27-3.
In those two games, the Stamps forced 10 turnovers and sacked Ottawa quarterback Trevor Harris seven times. But that was 4 1/2 months ago, and things have changed. Harris has been the CFL’s hottest QB of late, while Calgary lost three of their last four regular season games.
Harris has thrown for 17 touchdowns against two interceptions over his last seven starts, including a record-breaking performance in the East final. His counterpart, Bo Levi Mitchell, is no stranger to the big stage as this is his fourth shot in the league final.
Don’t expect a blowout like the two games in the regular season. Both teams are firing on all cylinders.
Fans have seen a lot of these two teams in recent Grey Cups. The Stampeders have played in four of the last seven league finals, winning just one of them (2014). The Redblack have played in two of the last three, also winning just one of them (2016).
Prediction — Play Ottawa (+4) against the spread and take the under (53.5) in the totals bet.
