Following Georgia’s defeat to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, the College Football Playoff committee opted not to include them in the selection. On Sunday afternoon, the committee revealed its choices: No. 1 Michigan, No. 2 Washington, No. 3 Texas, and No. 4 Alabama. ACC champions Florida State secured the No. 5 spot, with Georgia positioned at No. 6. As the first two teams on the outside looking in, Florida State and Georgia are set to go head-to-head in the Orange Bowl.

The Seminoles secured a 16-6 victory over the Louisville Cardinals. Brock Glenn completed 8 of 21 passes for 55 yards, recording no touchdowns and no interceptions in the game for the Noles against the Cardinals. Lawrance Toafili had an impressive performance with 10 carries, accumulating 118 yards at a rate of 11.8 yards per attempt. He scored one touchdown. Johnny Wilson contributed to the passing game with two receptions for 21 yards, averaging 10.5 yards per catch.

The Orange Bowl, held annually in the Miami metropolitan area since January 1, 1935, is a longstanding American college football bowl game.
