NBA Monday Night Picks 5/9 | ||
---|---|---|
Boston Celtics | -110 | -110 |
Milwaukee Bucks | -110 | -110 |
Memphis Grizzlies | +395 | +390 |
Golden State Warriors | -540 | -545 |
The third-seeded Golden State Warriors are hugely favored over the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 4. Yes, the scene is still in Golden State. Game 3 felt like a total rout for the Warriors. Not only did they win by 30 points, Golden State scored an even bigger advantage with the injury to Ja Morant of Memphis. Golden State had been the better team throughout this series. However, Morant had the dynamic ability to keep the Warriors honest.
A further look showed that Golden State again put its adaptability on full display. They were able to just outscore Memphis. Are they going to score 142 points every game? Certainly not. On the other hand, the Warriors showed that they can increase the pace of a game at will. The last three quarters were near basketball perfection for Golden State.
So, Memphis does have depth but even that depth will be severely tested on Monday night. The speed in this game has shot upward but something has not that much. There may lie a little bit of value in some other aspects. Again, Memphis losing Morant for any time is significant but this is a Grizzlies team that went 18-2 at one point without their superstar scorer.
Now, NBA Monday Primetime Picks focuses on the following question. Does Golden State get that stranglehold of a series lead and more?
It is amazing how the Golden State Warriors are somehow just 10-point favorites in the odds. The teams are not that evenly stacked and yet Golden State (a mostly defensive team with offensive pace) is expected to just better keep up at home against a dangerous Memphis team. For better or worse, Steph Curry, Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are now “the favorite” again.
Now, the key for Golden State is that defense to offense concept. Golden State shot more than 50% in both Game 3 but their eFG% was 73.2%. That was topped by a 53.1% effort in the third game from distance. Adding another layer to that brutality was the fact that the Warriors sank their foul shots. They went 19-for-21 from the line to the tune of 90.5%. Everything cannot go perfectly but Golden State is dominant enough to go on runs.
This has the makings of being a series that could functionally end tonight. Memphis could try and steal Game 4 and arguably make this a series again. Do not expect the Warriors to let that willingly happen. They realize the opportunity and this is a “championship team” that does not squander these chances often. Their depth at home is why Golden State is in a position to put a true stranglehold in this series.
Memphis just cannot match the offensive thrust that Golden State has for more than short-termed bursts. The Grizzlies can match the big guns enough. There are quite a few options. For one, the over at just 224 points could be considered low-hanging fruit, the moneyline is a given, and lastly that 10 point spread all go the Golden State direction. These NBA Monday primetime picks is worth a two or three-legged parlay even.
The NBA Monday Primetime Picks for this Eastern Conference “rivalry” are trending towards a very long series. That’s right. The Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics sludge it out in a Game 3 that came down to a frenetic finish where Milwaukee held off Boston. After going on a huge third-quarter run, the Bucks had to survive a Boston comeback where the Celtics showed their might and resolve.
Out of the three games, this was the closest one by far. Game 1 was an easy win for Milwaukee and Game 2 was a Boston runaway. The defending champions probably should have dropped Game 3 and were fortunate to escape with the victory. Consider that Jayson Tatum was held to just 4-for-19 shooting and Giannis Antetokounmpo had to drop 42 points with Jrue Holiday pouring in 25 points. Milwaukee was the team that had little depth.
Milwaukee still feels the pressure now. There’s no question. They cannot lose this series. Now, the problem is Boston likely has more depth than the Bucks can at times handle. Boston can shoot better. They are a bit more dynamic offensively. The superlatives go on and on. Milwaukee has championship pedigree and resolve plus “The Greek Freak” of course.
For this NBA Monday Primetime pick, our best bet is to now take the Milwaukee Bucks and the dead even moneyline. After all, both picks come in at right at even money. Combine the two for a reasonable plus-money parlay if need be.
The Milwaukee Bucks are even in this series against the Boston Celtics.
Thankfully, Vegas online sites like MyBookie expected a long series between Boston and Milwaukee. The series has lived up to the defensive hype. Despite this, the over/under here is still 212 points. That is a bit of a surprise. The pace potential is there. However, the reality is not.
Fortunately, both teams seem content slugging away with their halfcourt games. Take the Under at 212 points as another Monday night primetime pick.
