LA has indeed gotten off to another strong start this year, with James leading the way, of course alongside the one and only Anthony Davis. Those two are among the best duos in the league. They’re also why Lakers fans are feeling confident that this team can once again win it all this spring.
As for James, he may be 36 years old, but he has not lost a step in his game. He flies down the court and soars in the air like someone who was in their young 20s. Our pick is for James to win NBA MVP this season and do so in convincing fashion. Many people thought he was robbed in 2019-20. Not this year.
While a lot of the attention is on James and his MVP chase, Anthony Davis is in the hunt to win Defensive Player of the Year honors. This really should come as no surprise, as Davis has always been known as being a tremendous force in the paint both on offense and defense.
With his D, Davis is fantastic when it comes to defensive rebounding and also swatting away shots with ease. At the same time, his versatility has also led to plenty of steals this season thus far as well. Remember, Davis is 6-10, 255 pounds. Yet, he’s able to get low and anticipate passes like he was born to do it.
Davis has +200 odds to be named Defensive Player of the Year, but he’s not the only person in the running to take home the hardware. However, he’s making big contributions whenever he’s on the floor.
Just like the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, there are other guys who would love to swipe that Sixth Man honors away from Clarkson. Other guys in contention include Terrence Ross, Caris LeVert, Goran Dragic, and others. Clarkson does have the best NBA odds at +250.
He’s actually the big favorite to win it. With the Jazz having a great season thus far and looking ready to battle the Lakers for the No. 1 seed, Clarkson could have a big impact on if Utah can take down LA. Regardless, he’s been brilliant and he’s our pick to win Sixth Man of the Year.
