There is always that first look towards the Wednesday night NBA picks. The Brooklyn Nets play the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night on the road. Arguably, the Nets may have the Pacers right where they want them. It is more than the fact that Indiana is just 14-24 on the season. Their 11-9 home record belies the fact that they have lost five straight games and just do not have the manpower or depth that Brooklyn has.
Now, that being said, there are some concerns for Brooklyn as well. Bettors should note that they have lost three straight contests themselves. Again, this is why there is some fluctuations in the early odds. It is also why opening odds tend to come out a little later than usual currently. After all, who knows who may wind up in COVID protocol or pulled off just minutes or a few hours before tip-off.
Brooklyn tends to play a good deal better on the road. They have won 14 of 17 games away from home and have thrived off road crowds all season. It is as if they feed off the hate and contempt some teams’ fans harbor for them. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden also can play together thanks to not having to worry about the New York City vaccine mandates.
There are high expectations on this Wednesday night NBA pick. It can be dicey because of how many feel that the Pacers are vastly underachieving. However, the numbers do not lie. Indiana could be missing as many as nine players due to COVID protocols. Even with Brooklyn missing Joe Davis from the lineup, that does not make up for what the other side of the ledger lacks.
This is where finding good numbers on this January 5th slate is so important.
It is reasonable to see why the Indiana Pacers could be somewhat enticing. They do play better at home and the Pacers are up against a team that sometimes packs it in early. However, the Brooklyn Nets are our top Wednesday night NBA pick for their depth and improved road firepower.
As the season continues, it is clear that some teams are just playing better on the road. The Philadelphia 76ers are one of those teams and another team we are high on this Wednesday night. Simply, picking the Philadelphia 76ers over the Orlando Magic comes down to taking advantage of the math.
It boils down to those recent trends here. Philadelphia has won four straight games while playing reasonably solid defense and scoring just enough in the fourth quarter to seal teams off. The Orlando Magic just cannot seem to put much of anything together. They have lost six straight games and their point differential is now approaching -10 points per contests (-9.6 at press time).
The home numbers for the Orlando Magic are downright ghastly. They have dropped 13 of 15 decisions at home. Against the Eastern Conference, the Magic have lost 23 of 27 games. Arguably, this Orlando incarnation may be the worst in the NBA currently. The Magic did keep the game with Chicago close and Boston as well. However, they do match up a bit better against those teams. Joel Embiid has been on some roll lately. Orlando has no answer for him.
That is a big reason why the feeling is that the Philadelphia 76ers will defeat the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night. Furthermore, if the spread stays around 7.5 points, side with Philadelphia there as well. Orlando could have a tough time staying with the 76ers especially if Philadelphia’s depth plays like it has over the past four contests.
The cute story of the last week is how the Detroit Pistons have won two straight games. There is a heavy likelihood that ends on Wednesday night as the Charlotte Hornets are our pick to end the Detroit Pistons streak. Detroit might be able to push a bit more offensively but averaging just 101.1 points per game is going to hurt especially on the road where they are just 3-15 this 2021-22 NBA Season.
The Charlotte Hornets are pretty stung err ticked after losing consecutive games. Add in the fact that they do play better at home (9-5 record) and this is one which could get away from Detroit fast. Charlotte’s pace ranks among the top ten in the league and top five at home.
NBA Wednesday Night picks has Charlotte as an early 9.5 point favorite. This is one to take a risk on, besides the moneyline, as Charlotte could very easily win this by double digits. That 13 point differential in offensive outputs could loom as a big reason why.
Out of all the games, some could debate this may be the safest pick on Wednesday night.
Bettors tend to like the ease of PayPal betting sites in Nevada and New Jersey in particular for the NBA. Also, do not forget to take a look at some of our other NFL Vegas Odds for Week 18 and more.
