Here we go, folks. The time has arrived for the Fall Classic, as Houston and Atlanta are all set to meet in the 2021 World Series. This is an incredibly fun matchup, as the two teams recorded big-time wins in the ALCS and NLCS to make it this far. We have our MLB picks for Braves vs. Astros in World Series action, with it looking like Houston could get the job done. Will they do so?
This of course is going to be a fun meeting of these two teams, with everyone wanting to know how many games will the World Series last? If you think either Houston or Atlanta is going to record a sweep and this edition of the WS is going to end in four games, you couldn’t be more wrong. Both these clubs are quite evenly matched up and this one could go six or seven games. For Brian Snitker, this moment really means the world to him.
“I just kind of sat in my chair and the guys swamped me,” Snitker said after Atlanta took down the LA Dodgers in the NLCS to advance to the World Series against Houston. “I was just hoping I could hold it together because a lot comes at you. After all the years and everything you go through and now to be able to experience this, it’s really something really cool.”
World Series odds | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Houston to win | -150 | -150 | -150 | -150 |
Atlanta to win | +125 | +125 | +125 | +125 |
WS to end in 6 | +200 | +200 | +200 | +200 |
WS to end in 7 | +210 | +210 | +210 | +210 |
According to the Las Vegas Sportsbooks, the best MLB betting odds have the series going four games at +500, five games at +290, six games at +200 and seven games at +210. How sweet would it be if this one were to go the full seven games? It would be something to remember, as there would be plenty of drama and intrigue throughout the entire series.
With that said, again, both Houston and Atlanta are sensational teams and they have what it takes to win it all. Houston might be the favorite, but Atlanta has used a magical run to get them this far. Who’s to say that the magic is going to run out? We’ll reveal our pick for the World Series below, but in terms of how many games this one will go, we’re rocking with six games as our selection.
Now that the Fall Classic has been officially set, the Astros will silence their haters and win the World Series for the first time since the 2017 sign-stealing scandal rocked the bigs. No one has forgotten about that team, as fans all over New York City remain furious, as they believe they should have moved on to the World Series instead of the ‘cheating’ Astros. At the same time, no one has forgotten about Jose Altuve winning MVP over Aaron Judge.
While everyone is ready to root against Houston, the club has been brilliant this year and they’ve been playing the game the right way. They have been led by the one and only Dusty Baker, as the veteran manager has turned things around for Houston and really made them one of the best teams in the bigs this year. Baker is such a lovable coach, which makes it kind of hard to root against the Astros. Team owner Jim Crane knew Baker could turn things around.
“I interviewed a bunch of guys, and the first time I talked to him, we talked for two hours and I felt like he was my best friend,” Astros owner Jim Crane told the New York Times in a recent interview. “So I was very comfortable with him immediately and, boom, I made the decision. I knew he had a lot of experience, he kind of calmed a lot of the nonsense we were dealing with and kept these guys on track.”
Entering the World Series, Houston is the favorite with its -150 MLB odds, while the Braves are underdogs at +125. This really has what it takes to be an interesting series. At the end of the action, though, we think that Baker’s men are simply going to be too strong for the Braves to try and contain. We’re going with the Astros as our pick. Do you agree? One of the main storylines from the postseason thus far has been how great the Braves’ bats have been. With that said, look for Freddie Freeman to stay hot at the dish for Atlanta. The veteran slugger is among the favorites to win World Series MVP. Matter of fact, he and Jose Altuve have the best MVP odds. It will surely come down to which team wins it all in terms of who wins MVP.
However, Freeman also has high odds to finish the World Series with the most hits. Yordan Alvarez holds +750 odds to record the most hits in the WS, but Freeman is right behind him at +850, as is Kyle Tucker. Austin Riley, Altuve and Carlos Correa are also in the mix to finish with the most hits, but we think that Freeman is going to keep shining brightly and record some timely knocks for his team.
This is a dream come true for Freeman, as he’s always hoped of being in a position to win the World Series. Despite us going with the Astros to win it all, our expectation is that Freeman will finish the World Series with the most hits between all of the Atlanta and Houston stars. Freeman has a clutch gene and he’ll be ready to showcase that from start to finish going up against Houston in this one.
