With key players in the lineup (Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson, and Harrison Bader) out to injury, the team ranks 19th in runs scored (4.38 per game).
Pitching has bailed them out up to this point, but Monday’s starter is a weak link in the rotation. Rookie Jhony Brito gets the nod here. To be fair, Brito is 3-1 this season. That loss, however, came at the hand of the Twins. Just a few weeks ago, on April 13, Minnesota chased him off in the first inning after putting up seven earned runs off six hits.
Brito is still a youngster, so we’re not sure he’ll just be able to put that rough outing behind him and redeem himself so easily. Don’t be surprised if the Twins open Brito up again and win this game in a convincing fashion. We’re betting that’s what indeed happens.
Hey, we said our risk tolerance was high this week, and cause of that, we’re also jumping on the A’s-Angels run line. But honestly, this might not be a risky pick. LA is almost plus-money to win by two or more, and it’s rare to get those types of odds on run lines. Here’s where things stand:
Folks, this Oakland team might go down as one of the worst in modern history when it’s all said and done. They’re 4-18, not only the worst mark in the league but the worst record after 22 games in franchise history. The A’s have six losses by ten or more runs so far. After 22 games, its run differential is an ugly -103.
And, of course, as you probably heard, the franchise plans to move to Las Vegas. The news was released at the end of last week, giving the league’s lowest-paid team in 2023 another unneeded distraction to manage.
You might want to get comfortable fading Oakland on run lines cause it could be very profitable this season. Monday is a perfect opportunity to begin this trend. The A’s starting pitcher for this one, Ken Waldichuk, is 0-5 in his last ride road starts. This is going to get ugly for Oakland, bank on it!

Neither of these clubs is playing particularly well so far this season. St. Louis is 9-13, losers of four of their last six. Meanwhile, San Francisco is 8-13. Though, they did take two of three games from the Mets’ last series, so there is some momentum on their side going into this home matchup.
The starting pitching battle is between the Giant’s Alex Cobb and the Cardinals’ Jordan Montgomery. We’re giving the advantage to Cobb. In 19 innings pitched this season, Cobb has allowed a meager six earned runs to give him a respectable 2.79 ERA. Playing in his ballpark should key Cobb to a good outing, which will help San Francisco secure the win.
