Blake Shelton’s Ole Red Welcomes Back Ryan Whyte Maloney Band
The Ryan Whyte Maloney Band is set to continue its extended engagement at the honky-tonk where Maloney last performed.
This dynamic country-rock cover band will take the stage for their residency from 6 to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays at Blake Shelton’s Ole Red Las Vegas, now led by seasoned Vegas vocalist Michael Dean, who has frequently collaborated with the group.
Tragically, Maloney passed away early on January 28 in Henderson, with the official cause noted as suicide by gunshot.
He was 44 years old. Currently, there are no plans for a memorial service in Las Vegas, though his family is organizing a service in his hometown of Traverse City, Michigan.
A contestant on “The Voice” in 2014, Maloney was part of Team Blake. His participation on the show led to Shelton recruiting him for the Ole Red residency, set to begin in February 2024.

At Ole Red, Maloney was supported by a talented team of veteran Vegas musicians: Cody Bergstrom (guitar), Dan Walker (keys), Bryan Walker (drums), Colin Hotchkiss (bass), and Tommy Wayne (pedal-steel guitar).
Meanwhile, Shelton is kicking off his own residency Wednesday night at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, just across from his namesake venue.
The country superstar will perform six shows until February 15, but there’s no information yet about whether he plans to visit Ole Red.
Maloney’s fiancée and manager, Zana Kensington, shared that opening night will be led by Dean and will showcase several singers throughout the four-hour set.
The residency will transition to its regular schedule of 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with occasional sets from 6 to 10 p.m.
Country headliner Dez Hoston is also expected to perform during some of these shows, with no cover charge for attendees.
Kensington expressed her gratitude to the club and its general manager Ryan Klaasen for reinstating the band’s dates, saying, “Ryan’s name will live on, and so will his music.”
The future of the Life is Beautiful (LiB) festival remains uncertain as its official website has been taken down, signaling instability.
While its parent company, Rolling Stone (a subsidiary of Penske Media Corporation), insists the festival will continue in some form, there will be no event in 2024, and no return date has been set.
Penske Media plans to invest in Las Vegas real estate to establish a permanent home for LiB. This means the Plaza, which hosted the makeshift “A Beautiful Block Party” in 2023, will no longer serve as the festival’s venue.
Plaza CEO Jonathan Jossel, who attempted to keep the tradition alive, now plans a separate two-day event for September 2024.
The 2023 Block Party featured artists like Jamie xx, Justice, and LCD Soundsystem but fell short of expectations, drawing only 7,000 attendees despite a capacity of 25,000.
In contrast, the original LiB festival, founded in 2013 by Tony Hsieh and others, spanned 18 downtown blocks and aimed to be a large-scale music, arts, and culinary experience.
Although LiB struggled financially—reportedly only breaking even twice before Penske’s acquisition—it became a defining Las Vegas event. Rolling Stone faces the challenge of reviving its legacy or redefining it entirely for future years.
Will Life is Beautiful regain its former glory, or has it faded for good?
