What: Miami Dolphins vs Kansas City Chiefs – NFL Week 9
Where: Deutsche Bank Park, Frankfurt, Germany
When: Sunday, November 5th, kick-off 9:30 AM ET
The NFL heads to Germany in Week 9 for one of the best matchups we’ll see all season as the Kansas City Chiefs (6-2) and the Miami Dolphins (6-2) go to battle at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt. The kick-off is scheduled bright and early at 9:30 AM ET. KC is actually coming off a surprising loss to the Denver Broncos by a score of 24-9 behind a rare poor performance from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. As for Miami, they cooked division rivals New England behind another ridiculous game from Tyreek Hill, who has already surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving mark. This is a game between two of the best teams in the league and should be a very entertaining one for the German fans. Continue reading for the Dolphins vs Chiefs picks.
The Chiefs are the favorite here with -140 moneyline odds for this Week 9 clash. The Dolphins come back at +120. Kansas City is laying just 2.5 points on the spread though, which means this is expected to be a very close one. The total is set at 50.5. After all, we have two of the best offenses in the league going toe to toe. KC has won three in a row against Miami.
Dolphins Looking Like Super Bowl Contender
Miami is no joke. This is a team who is absolutely flourishing week in and week out with Tua Tagovailoa providing tons of consistency. The quarterback, who dealt with numerous concussions last season, has thrown for 2,416 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 2023 while completing 70.4% of his passes. Tua is balling out and he happens to have an electric duo out wide.
Hill has a ridiculous 61 catches for 1,014 yards and eight TDs already and it’s only Week 9. Jaylen Waddle is also showing well with 37 catches for 480 yards and three scores. These two are arguably the best one-two punch in the NFL and Tyreek in particular is pretty much unstoppable. This is also the first time he’ll face the Chiefs since the blockbuster trade in the offseason that sent him to South Beach. While KC’s secondary is allowing just 176.1 yards per contest, which ranks second in the league, Cheetah is incredibly difficult to contain. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him cook his former team.
Tyreek had eight catches for 112 yards in Week 8 while Waddle reeled in seven grabs for 121 yards. The two single-handedly dominated the Pats’ pass defense. Tua meanwhile threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns. Miami’s offense is truly phenomenal, ranking first in total yards, passing yards, rushing yards, and points. While the Chiefs defense is good, the Dolphins will feel confident about putting up points in bunches. The question marks come defensively, where Miami has looked shaky at times.
Can Chiefs Respond?
It’s not too often we see the Chiefs lose, never mind put up under 10 points. The lowly Broncos beat them 24-9 on Sunday in some brutal conditions in the Mile High City. It was actually their first loss to Denver since 2015 and the first time Mahomes has ever failed to take down their divisional foes. But, it was clear the QB didn’t feel right. He was dealing with flu-like symptoms all week but decided to play anyway.
Mahomes was 24 for 38 for 241 yards but failed to throw for a single touchdown and got picked off twice. This just wasn’t the Mahomes we’re all used to seeing every single Sunday. KC had a mere 62 yards rushing here while the Broncos’ RB room had its way, which played a key part in the outcome. Travis Kelce led the way out wide with six catches. Although this didn’t turn out the way the Chiefs would’ve liked, there’s no denying this is still a Super Bowl team once again.
On both sides of the ball, Andy Reid’s squad is fantastic. They’re only allowing 16.1 points per game and rank third in total yards. As previously mentioned the Chiefs’ defense will certainly be tested in Germany with Tyreek aiming to create real havoc. If they can somehow slow down the wide receiver and Mahomes cooks, Kansas City should move to 7-2.
Dolphins vs Chiefs Picks
Yes, the Dolphins look legit, but I simply cannot see Mahomes allowing the Chiefs to lose a second consecutive game. This is the MVP we’re talking about. Take the Kansas City moneyline.
