Sometimes Las Vegas just has a way of taking an idea, combining it with other ideas, and making a creation that much better. As always, at Vegas Betting, we have the latest local news on what will be a new Las Vegas experience.
Oh, that news is that BattleBots is heading to Las Vegas. Filming started Monday and goes through September 4th, with the release scheduled for some time after.
A look at the Allure of Battle Bots
Some thought this idea of robots battling each other would not last but BattleBots has found a way to thrive even in this COVID world. It is doing well enough that the Discovery Channel is picking the show up for two more seasons.
The best way to look at Battle Bots is this. It takes the idea of robots, creative engineering, and combat to a whole other level.
“Coming to see it live is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. you smell it, you feel it, the bleachers rubble. you see how big the robots are, you see the competitors frantically working the remote control to get the robot to fight better and better. it’s amazing to see it live is like nothing else,” said Greg Munson executive producer and co-founder of the event.
The atmosphere at BattleBots live tournaments is what makes it one of those events you have to be at once. It is quite the spectacle and not just for the carnage a person sees on television. That is only half the story. Or is it?
This is just a small illustration of why Vegas is what it is. In the summertime or almost anytime, one can see anything and a variety of events. Now, Vegas residents and others will have the chance to see BattleBots on one very grand stage. The best part is they will get to see it again in 2022 as Vegas has a two-year agreement.
With BattleBots now in Las Vegas, the inevitable question is when can one bet on BattleBots.
BattleBots and Betting Are Not a Marriage Yet…
From looking at this in several ways, the allure would be quite massive. These are those who are keen on betting, like Bovada, who do not have this listed as it is not legal. It does not mean that some will inevitably try.
BattleBots features again that mix of robots combined with metal carnage. Teams have their creations battle each other and they fight until there is a winner. With a tournament style, this is a sport that has the potential to lend itself to sports betting.
Again, the intentions are simple. This is a tournament that is quintessential in Las Vegas. It has everything one could ask for and again it is an event that will make Las Vegas a solid amount of money.
Discovery has struck gold on the idea and to think this has been around in various forms since 2000. It attracts millions of viewers and people can stream older episodes on Netflix and a variety of other platforms.
Obviously, sports betting is a significant part of the focus here. It goes on behind the scenes err “underground” and this is something that can be quite lucrative if legalized. The fact that Las Vegas will have BattleBots for two seasons only adds speculation to a future that includes betting on the spectacle.
BattleBots and Las Vegas Truly a Match
Again, people know when they are in Vegas, the allure lies in the atmosphere combined with the entertainment factor. BattleBots truly adds both in their mix. The best part is it has a “hip” fare to it along with its carnal instinct of violence
The ambiance and vibe are just different within the live tournaments when one compares it to even the television version. Part of that is because what we see on television pales in comparison to the live events themselves.
The one thing we forgot to mention was the slow-motion replays. If one wants to talk about a “sport” that is absolutely perfect for replays, it is BattleBots. Fans have clamored about this for years that just those “highlights” could wind up on SportsCenter and beyond.
If that was not enough, there does get that increasing sense something may be afoot down the road for betting sites in Las Vegas come 2022. Meanwhile, remember that idea of replays? No, we were not kidding.
Now, with all the subtleties, battles, and even weight classes, the idea of BattleBots and legal betting are something that will undoubtedly ride a wave as betting groundswell grows with them in Vegas.
What else may follow for BattleBots?
It’s quite an excellent question. The answer expects to come into focus in time as people from Caesars Entertainment Studios put it. They hope that COVID almost gives BattleBots an even more robust audience on television along with its live presence. That live presence could be key in the push for legalizing betting on BattleBots.
Again, it is not uncommon to see celebrities, as we mentioned above. So, certainly, the chances of seeing all walks of sports and celebrity life are more the norm than the exception. After all, Vegas is truly an all eyes on anyone and everyone. BattleBots has certainly expanded from its more “nerdy” origins to something many can enjoy.
The hope for BattleBots is that their two-year run in Las Vegas is a springboard for many other events to come and more.
Just ride the wave, the music, and maybe someday in the future, place your bets!
