With the 2021 baseball campaign in full swing, several teams across the American League and National League continue to make noise as serious contenders. Who will go on to win it all? In this piece, we have our MLB futures picks for the 2021 season, which includes our selection to win the World Series. Indeed, several teams look ready to try and win the Fall Classic.
Dodgers are the favorites to win the World Series
As has been the case for quite a while the Dodgers are the favorites to win the World Series. After winning it all last year, Los Angeles continues to be on a tear this campaign. Whether with its strong hitting, pitching or defensive work, Los Angeles turns heads each game. They’re cruising along this season and should have no issues winning the NL West.
Then once the postseason arrives, the Dodgers figure to go on another long, epic run. With the bats of Justin Turner, Mookie Betts, Corey Seager and others, LA features one heck of a lineup. It’s frustrating for opposing pitchers who try to silence them in each game, yet they have little to no success in doing so. Meanwhile, the Dodgers also have a great rotation.
That rotation only got stronger this season when the team went out and signed Trevor Bauer to a massive contract in the winter. Bauer won the NL Cy Young last year and continues to look like one of the best pitchers in the game. As things stand, the Las Vegas sportsbooks have given the Dodgers +340 odds to win the World Series this fall. That’s far and wide the best MLB odds among the teams out there.
The Chicago White Sox hold +700 odds, while San Diego is also +700, New York Yankees are +850, the Mets are +950 and Tampa Bay is +1300. Sure, there are several organizations ready to try and get things done, but our pick is with the Los Angeles Dodgers. They’re simply too good of a team right now and that should continue throughout the postseason once it arrives.
Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Shohei Ohtani are battling it out for AL MVP
As for individual awards, Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Shohei Ohtani are battling it out for AL MVP in a race that will surely go until the end of the campaign. Both guys are putting up unreal numbers this spring, which is making things even more interesting. Guerrero of course stars for the Toronto Blue Jays, while Ohtani continues to dazzle for the Los Angeles Angels.
As of this writing, Guerrero is hitting a mind-blowing .333, which is third best in the American League. On top of that, he leads the way with 18 homers and is second in the league with his 47 RBI. Not to mention, he’s also posting a world-class 1.098 OPS, which also is No. 1. With his stats, it’s no surprise that Guerrero holds such great AL MVP odds, as he’s at +230.
That’s the second-best odds, as Ohtani is at the top of this list at +125. Just like Guerrero, Ohtani has been brilliant this spring. Also a stud pitcher, Ohtani is hitting .259, with 16 home runs and 42 RBI. On the mound, the superstar is 2-1, with an impressive 2.76 ERA in eight starts. While Guerrero has better hitting stats, the fact that Ohtani is brilliant on the mound too is amazing.
As tough as it is to bet against Guerrero, we’ve got to go with Ohtani as our pick for AL MVP here. Again, Guerrero is unreal at hitting, but the fact that Ohtani is able to get things done both at the plate and on the bump is what separates him from all the other players out there. Guys like him don’t come often. If you agree as Ohtani as the pick, be sure to check out our MLB betting sites to get your wager in.
The Chicago White Sox are in the hunt to win the American League
Seemingly out of nowhere, the Chicago White Sox are in the hunt to win the American League. Before the season started, there was so much drama with the team from the south side of the Windy City, as basically everyone was complaining about the club hiring Tony La Russa to be the club’s new manager. What in the world was the team thinking?
Well, it has proven to be quite the decision, as La Russa and Chicago are in first place of the AL Central standings with their 36-23 record. With that impressive mark, the team is four games ahead of the Cleveland Indians in the division standings. Remember, Chicago is without two of its best players in Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez, as the two suffered serious injuries earlier this year.
Despite that, the White Sox hold +300 odds to win the AL and go on to the World Series. Meanwhile, the New York Yankees are +380, Tampa Bay is +480, Houston is +700 and Oakland is +800. The Yankees have been up and down this year, which is strange to see. With players like Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge in the lineup, their struggles at the plate have been senseless.
Chicago on the other hand is balanced at the plate and with its pitching. Because of this, we think they’ll have what it takes to win the AL Central and then be dominant in the postseason. We’re picking them to win the American League and play in the World Series.
