This tournament is about one thing and one thing only – the feud between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau. With those two locked in a historic golf feud, online sportsbooks are offering golf props on those two ranging from their performance at the US Open to them getting in a physical altercation. We have found the Best US Open prop bets to make on the tournament.
Better Score at the US Open: Brooks Koepka or Bryson DeChambeau
This is the most golf-related prop bet between the two. Which golfer will have a better score at the US Open? The odds are even between the two. Bryson won the last US Open, but Brooks is a better player overall at Majors.
Since we are backing Brooks to win the 2021 US Open, we are going to bet on him to score better than Bryson. Bryson has never shot better than Brooks at a Major. At the 2020 US Open – where Bryson won – Brooks was not there. At the 2021 Masters, Brooks missed the cut, but Bryson ended the four rounds at +5 – the same score as Brooks.
If you think Brooks and Bryson are the two top golfers at the US Open. Or any tournament for the remainder of 2021, you can bet they will meet in the playoff. Playoffs are not frequent in golf tournaments. However, the last time the US Open was played at Torrey Pines, Tiger Woods beat Rocco Mediate in a playoff.
Brooks and Bryson each have gone to one PGA Tour playoff in their career. The PGA Tour and the network would love to see these two paired or in a sudden-death playoff. However, it is so hard to predict a playoff it is not worth the betting value. Maybe if the odds were at least +1000 or more, not +600, we would consider it.
NoBrooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau not to meet in a playoff
The golf world was set ablaze when Bryson walked through Brooks’ interview after the PGA Championship. Brooks’ look of disgust when he walked by only added to their feud and rivalry.
While Brooks can be a pester to some golfers, I do not expect him to walk through a Bryson interview. Brooks gets so mad being in the presence of Bryson I feel he will avoid him at all costs. Unless somehow things really heat up. But even if they get heated, I feel they will deal with it off-camera.
Will Either Koepka or DeChambeau Punch the Other in the Face
This bet is one of the most ridiculous betting specials ever made. But watching these two devolve into hatred makes it feel like it could happen. These guys do not like each other. They play different styles of golf that irritate each other.
You cannot find a history of brawls on the PGA Tour. It is not that type of sport. And if these two were to go at it, it would likely be off the course in the clubhouse. However, with Bryson’s recent comments about sanctioning Brooks, it seems more reasonable every day that someone in this feud gets punched in the face. Also, this bet is for any point in the year – not only during the US Open.
It cannot only be about Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau at the 2021 US Open. The field includes over 100 other golfers, including the most recent Major winner, Phil Mickelson.
Phil Mickelson to Finish in Top 20
After shocking the golf world and winning the 2021 PGA Championship, Phil Mickelson qualified for the US Open. If you forget, he was going to be given a special exemption to partake in the event. After watching Phil put on one of the most unpredictable performances, we believe he still has plenty left in the tank.
Phil has won three times at Torrey Pines – but not when it last hosted the US Open. When the US Open was played there in 2008, Phil finished in 18th. We do not think Phil can replicate the magic and win another Major at 50. However, his history at the course and recent performance have us betting he can finish top-20.
Phil Mickelson to Finish Top-20At the 2021 US Open
We also recommend betting on Phil Mickelson to make the cut at -135.
Will Tiger Woods Play in a Major in 2022
It will be a long rehab for Tiger Woods, but after watching Phil Mickelson win the 2021 PGA Championship, we think Tiger can return in 2022.
Woods is five years younger than Phil. He is also only two years removed from his improbable victory at the Masters. We are not betting on Woods to win another Major. However, we can see him making a return to the game’s most prominent events at some point in 2022. Maybe at the 2022 US Open.
