Golf’s third major gets underway on June 17, with the best golfers in the world heading to the world-famous Torrey Pines Golf Course for the 2021 US Open. It is the second tournament in 2021 to take place at Torrey Pines after San Diego played host to the Farmers Insurance Open in January.
The field at the 2021 US Open will feature 156 players with a total prize fund of $12,500,000, with $2.25 million going to the US Open winner. After delays to the golf calendar last season, this US Open is taking place ten months after the 2020 iteration – where Bryson DeChambeau won his first Major by six strokes.
Golf odds are open for betting on who will win the 2021 US Open. The 2020 Masters Champion Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm top the charts at +1200 each to win at Torrey Pines. So, who are the best US Open Betting picks in 2021 to win the tournament?

While a few putting issues cost him a chance at passing Phil Mickelson to win the PGA Championship, it is clear that Brooks Koepka is back from his injury and rounding back into peak form just in time for the US Open.
Koepka has two US Open wins in his career, and when healthy, he has been the best golfer at Major tournaments the last four years. Since 2017 Brooks Koepka’s cumulative score at Majors is -84. The next closest golfers are Dustin Johnson (if you remember, finished the 2020 Masters with a -20) and Hideki Matsuyama at -25.
What will be interesting to watch at the US Open is the whole Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau drama. Brooks hates Bryson, but as the winners of three of the last four US Open (Brooks 2017 & 2018, Bryson 2020), they could end up paired together at some point.
It is hard to know if pairing the two would have any impact on their psyches during the tournament – but it would be our only reservations about backing Brooks, or if you are a Bryson believer backing off of him repeating as the winner.
One guy everyone keeps asking themselves, when will he win a Major, is Spanish golfer Jon Rahm. Rahm’s finished in the top ten at seven Majors, yet the former world number 1 has yet to win one of the big ones.
Rahm has won at Torrey Pines before, collecting his first PGA Tour win at the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open. He continued to play the course excellently since that victory, with three top-seven finishes and a round of 62 in 2019 (a year he finished in fifth). Overall, Rahm could finally capture a Major and joins Brooks Koepka as our two favourites to bet on at the 2021 US Open.
There are two underdogs we are eyeballing as guys who could have a great showing at Torrey Pines and upset the favourites on route to the 2021 US Open Championship – Tony Finau and Tommy Fleetwood.
Tony Finau has been having a great year, and it feels like it is finally time for him to break the Puerto Rico Open curse (a tournament noted for having winners never win again in their careers) and win another tournament.
Finau’s been in the mix for much of the 2021 golf season, finishing in the top ten seven times, including a second-place finish at the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open, which was held at Torrey Pines in January. Finau was also in contention at the last US Open, finishing in eighth.
The main reason to back Finau at the US Open is his consistency at Torrey Pines. Including this year’s Farmers Insurance Open, Finau has made the cut all seven times he has played at Torrey Pines. His worst performance on the course was 25th, while he has finished in the top six four times.
After shooting a 78 in the third round of the 2018 US Open, Fleetwood stormed back into contention in round four, shooting 63 and challenging Koepka for the Championship. The 63 – only the sixth round that low in the tournament’s history was particularly impressive due to the challenging conditions at Shinnecock Hills (where the cut line for the event was +8). That is the type of performance you love to see from a +5000 underdog.
Fleetwood has yet to win a Major but has three top-five finishes, including two at the US Open. He has struggled a bit this year and has never played a pro tournament at Torrey Pines. However, Fleetwood is a gutsy golfer due for a bounce-back at the 2021 US Open.
