Every season, IndyCar Series fans out there simply can’t wait for the Indianapolis 500 to arrive. The Indy 500 indeed is one of the biggest and best events of the season. So, which driver will be able to capture the glory and win things this year? In this piece, we have our Indianapolis 500 picks for the 2021 race. It’s sure to be a day that everyone will be talking about for a while.
Scott Dixon is the favorite to win the Indy 500 this year
Ahead of the big race, Scott Dixon is the favorite to win the Indy 500 this year. This shouldn’t come as a massive surprise, as Dixon has been nothing short of sensational behind the wheel. Indeed, he’s one of the best drivers out there, which is why he has the best IndyCar Series odds to win the Indy 500. The Las Vegas sportsbooks also agree that he has a great shot of winning.
Dixon holds +500 odds, which again are the No. 1 odds for all of the drivers who are getting ready to race in the Indy 500 glory. He’s not the only one with strong odds, though, as Patrick O’Ward has been given +750 odds, while Josef Newgarden is +800, as is Will Power. All of these guys, and the other participants, will do their absolute best to try and prevent Dixon from winning.
That won’t be an easy task, though, as Dixon is fantastic at what he does. Entering the race, Dixon has claimed the pole position for the 105th running of the Indy 500. That alone tells you how special he is driving. On top of that, Dixon is no stranger to winning this race, as Dixon won the Indy 500 back in 2008. He knows what it takes to get the job done at the track.
With that said, there’s no question that Dixon is our pick to win this year’s Indy 500 as well. While beating out the entire field is going to be tough, Dixon is built to face this challenge head on and get it done. Remember, he’s done this before. With him holding the best odds too, that tells you how confident folks are in him. As are we, as we’re selecting Dixon to be the winner.
Scott Dixon is also a virtual lock to finish in the Top 10
If for some reason you don’t think he’ll win it, you should note that Scott Dixon is a virtual lock to finish in the Top 10. When he decides to end up retiring, Dixon will go down as one of the best drivers of all time. In addition to winning the IndyCar championship series six times, he’s also won at least one race every year since 2005. That’s simply a remarkable stat.
He also holds the record for winning at least one race in 19 seasons. Again, that is simply out of his world and shows you guys how incredible of a talent he is. You don’t win at least one race in 19 different years by not being among the best of the best at what you do. Come the Indy 500, Dixon will look to remind all of his fans of this by winning it. If for some reason he doesn’t, it’d be a shock if he doesn’t finish in the Top 10.
He holds -315 odds to finish in the Top 10. This means it’d be so darn shocking if he doesn’t place among the 10 best finishers. If you’re looking at others to bet on for the Top 10, Newgarden is -225, O’Ward is -200, Power is -182 and Alexander Rossi is -167. If you’re looking to potentially do a fun parlay, our pick would be to select Dixon, Newgarden and O’Ward to all finish in the Top 10.
Honda is looking for another big win at the Indy 500
In this one, Honda is looking for another big win at the Indy 500. Right now, Honda leads Chevrolet in the race for the INDYCAR Manufacturers’ Championship. With Honda hoping to win that title as well, winning the Indy 500 would be huge for them here in this case. Fortunately for them, Dixon drives for Honda and not Chevrolet. Because of this, Honda is ready to try and win at the Indy 500 to further their lead over Chevy.
Honda has -125 odds to win things here, while Chevy has been listed at -126. With us picking Dixon to win it, of course we’re going with Honda to beat out Chevy in this case as well. With their -125 odds, it’s an easy decision to rock with Honda in this instance. They’ve enjoyed a stellar year this season with its drivers, with Dixon ready to help things get even better this weekend.
