We’re getting closer and closer to the NFL’s biggest game of the year arriving, with only four teams left in contention to take home the Lombardi Trophy. Now, it’s time for us to offer up our Super Bowl LV picks heading into Championship Weekend. Which team will end up coming out on top this season?
If you’ve been following us closely here at Vegas Betting, we’ve been high on Green Bay for weeks. Moving forward, the Packers remain our favorite to win the Super Bowl, especially after the team looked so sharp in its Divisional Round victory over the Los Angeles Rams last weekend.
As things stand, the Kansas City Chiefs still have the best odds to win the Super Bowl at +200, while the Packers are right behind them at +250. Sure, we of course don’t want to completely write off the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers either, but from our chair, this will be Green Bay’s super bowl.
Fans across the country continue to gush over the play of Aaron Rodgers and for good reason. Going up against the Rams’ No. 1 ranked defense last weekend, Rodgers had no trouble throwing the ball all over the field, as he tossed for 296 yards and two touchdowns in the 32-18 victory over Sean McVay and Co.
One of those touchdowns went to superstar wideout Davante Adams, who was locked in a serious battle all day with Rams’ cornerback Jalen Ramsey, one of the best in the game. We think Green Bay will take down Tampa Bay this weekend and then go on to beat either Kansas City or Buffalo in the Super Bowl.
The question everyone has on their minds is no doubt which two teams will end up playing in the Super Bowl? As things stand, the favorites to win the AFC and NFC, respectively, are the Chiefs and Packers. While we’re confident the Packers will win the NFC, things are looking a touch more complicated in the AFC.
That’s because Patrick Mahomes went down with his concussion in the Divisional Round win against the Cleveland Browns. Mahomes remains in the concussion protocol. At first, it seemed like a lock he’d be able to play against the Bills in the AFC title game, but now things are a bit more in the air.
Because of this, the Bills must be feeling much more confident in their chances of upsetting Kansas City. Even if Mahomes plays, he’d be doing so at less than 100 percent and he’d also be missing some practice time leading up to the game. That’s not good news when you’re about to take on the Bills’ stingy defense.
Because of this, we’re going to mix things up and pick Buffalo to win on Sunday over Kansas City. With this, we’d then take the Packers to beat Buffalo in the Super Bowl. The Vegas sportsbooks have set the odds of that happening (GB over Buffalo) at +600. It’s a risky bet, but that’s our pick right now due to Mahomes’ health.
Come early February, another question we’ll have is can Aaron Rodgers take home another Super Bowl MVP honor? Again, this will all come down to who ends up winning the Super Bowl. If KC wins it, look for Mahomes to take home the award. If Buffalo somehow stuns us all, Josh Allen would likely win it.
However, the Packers really do have what it takes to win the Super Bowl this year, as they’ve been killing it on both sides of the ball. Rodgers would no question be the favorite to be named MVP in a Packers win. He’s what drives things offensively for Green Bay.
He’s expected to be named the 2020 NFL MVP too for his sensational showing in the regular season, where he threw 48 touchdowns and only five interceptions. Those stats are just silly to even think about. Rodgers powered Green Bay to its 13-3 record and first-round bye in the postseason.
Now, he’s two wins away from another Super Bowl title with the Packers. He holds +250 odds to win MVP, second only behind Mahomes’ +215 odds. It’s been a year to remember for the team from Lambeau Field and our expectation is things will end with a bang. That’s great news for Rodgers, our pick for MVP.
