Andy Beshear is a long-time friend of Kamala Harris.
He is also on the front foot when it comes to attacking Trump for his selection of JD Vance for running mate, given the latter’s opinions on residents of certain parts of Kentucky, of which Beshear is the governor.
It would take a huge turnaround for the Democrats to overturn Trump’s majority in the state.
History suggests picking Beshear as a running mate for Harris wouldn’t be enough in a state that has been red since 1996.
Mark Kelly is the more likely of the two to get the call.
All the mood music seems to be pointing towards the naming of Josh Shapiro by the weekend.
But even given all the talk, the Pennsylvania governor is still available to back at -250. Short as that is, it’s far from a nailed-on certainty.
