World No.1 Scottie Scheffler leads the betting to win the 2024 US PGA Championship. The second major of the year gets underway in Kentucky this week, and Scheffler is just +400 to add the PGA Championship to the Masters he won in April. In our latest golf betting picks we tell you if Scheffler will do it.
Scottie Scheffler will tee off at Valhalla on Thursday as the overwhelming favorite to land the 2024 US PGA Championship.
The world No.1 is dominating golf. Already in 2024, Scheffler has won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, the Masters, and most recently, the RBC Heritage.
It’s not all been plain sailing for Scheffler, though. He’s only won four of the last five tournaments he’s entered. An under-par performance at the Houston Open at the end of March saw him finish T2. I mean, what a disaster!
But all joking aside, Scheffler’s form has been out of this world in 2024. Domination of this sort hasn’t been witnessed since Tiger Woods was in his prime. Stopping the two-time major winner won’t be easy this week. But on the flip side, maintaining this high level of form won’t be easy for Scheffler either.
The LIV golfers will be back this week. That means the defending champion, Brooks Koepka (+1400), is in town alongside Jon Rahm (+1600) and Cameron Smith (+3500).
Also challenging Scheffler this week will be world No.2 Rory McIlroy (+700), who returned to form with a win at Quail Hollow in the Wells Fargo Championship last weekend.
It will be no shock to see that Scottie Scheffler is the favorite in the latest PGA Championship betting odds to win the PGA Championship. Scheffler is +400 to win his second major of the season and improve his T2 finish in 2023.
Second in the betting is Rory McIlroy at +700. McIlroy is the world no.2. He has bounced back to form with two wins in recent weeks. And he also won this event when it was held on this (much-changed) course in 2014.
In the betting to win the Masters last month, McIlroy was +1200, and Scheffler was +500. So the best Vegas betting sites have significantly closed the gap between the top two players in the world ahead of the PGA Championship.
Behind the two market leaders is the defending champion, Brooks Koepka, at +1400. Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Adberg and Jon Rahm are all at +1600.
Schauffele was second to McIlroy at Quail Hollow on Sunday. Adberg has just taken the golf world by storm over the past 12 months, with a second-place finish at the Masters in April confirming his credentials. As for Jon Rahm, if he wasn’t on the LIV circuit, he would no doubt be one of the favorites to win this week.

The par 71 course was opened in 1986, and after several renovations – including being lengthened in 2021 – now plays at 7457 yards.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Valhalla venue has hosted three PGA Championships and one Ryder Cup in 2008. In terms of like-for-like courses, the Nicklaus-designed Muirfield Village would have to be the obvious comparison to make.
The signature hole at Valhalla is the 13th, also known as The Limestone Hole.
The Limestone is a short 351-yard par 4. Although it sounds like a great birdie opportunity, the hole’s six left-sided bunkers keep the players honest. And there is also a small island green that ensures a good positional tee shot is required.
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have both previously won the PGA Championship on this course. Woods did it back in 2000, during his prime years. McIlroy won here in 2014. The win was his fourth major championship and his last.
Now, it’s time for our betting picks to win the 2024 US PGA Championship. And it’s no surprise to see who we are starting with.
Okay, a win for Scheffler is not one of our betting picks, but we wouldn’t argue against backing him.
He’s just become a Dad for the first time. So understandably, his mind might be elsewhere. And it’s also got to be hard to keep winning golf competitions week in and week out.
Would we be shocked if Scheffler won? No. Of course not.
But for our pick, we are backing Scottie Scheffler to finish in the top five.
Collin Morikawa won this title in 2020. He also has a great record on Jack Nicklaus-designed courses, including wins at Montreux, Muirfield Village, and The Concession.
Morikawa has been in good form in recent weeks. At the Masters, he was T3. At the RBC Heritage, he was 9th.
We are backing Collin Morikawa to win the 2024 US PGA Championship at +2500 for our betting pick. He is also +600 to finish in the top five and well worth a wager in that market as well.
