The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix starts at 10 pm on Saturday locally, which is a start time of 1 am ET. It already promised to be an F1 spectacle. But as a night race, it is going to be even more spectacular. Iconic buildings like Caesars Palace will be visible as the cars race down the world-famous Vegas strip and plot their ways around the 17 turns of the 6.2km street circuit.
At the heart of the action will be Max Verstappen. And when the action starts, the Dutchman will be looking to win his 18th race of a record-breaking season. He is currently setting records that may never be broken.
The Dutchman chalked up his 17th win of the season at the Brazilian Grand Prix in Interlagos at the start of November. After Vegas, there is only the Abu Dhabi race remaining. Win both of these, and Verstappen will have won an incredible 19 races in one season. Does anybody want to bet against him doing it?
Betting to win the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix
The official Formula 1 website says that the 6.2km Vegas street circuit will see cars reach the same sort of speed that they do at Monza in Italy. Monza is the fastest F1 circuit on the roster. Known as the Temple of Speed, drivers can reach speeds of up to 360 km/h, with an average speed of 264 km/h.
With the Vegas street circuit expected to replicate those sorts of speeds, the Red Bulls and Ferraris could be prominent this weekend. In the 2023 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Max Verstappen won the race ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez in second and Carlos Sainz in third. Sainz was also in Pole Position, and his teammate Charles Leclerc finished fourth in a good weekend for Ferrari.
That result isn’t reflected in the latest betting from the best Formula 1 betting sites. They have Max Verstaeppen as the favorite to win at -325, with Lando Norris second in the betting at +850 and Lewis Hamilton at +1400.
Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris have swapped places in the betting after the Mercedes team produced an awful performance in Brazil, with Hamilton finishing in eighth and George Russell recording a DNF.
Other drivers in the betting to win the race are Sergio Perez at +1600, with the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc (+1800) and Carlos Sainz (+2000) behind the Red Bull man in the latest odds. Their odds are a bit surprising, given how the two Ferrari drivers performed in Monza earlier this season.

As Lando Norris said after Brazil, he has no idea what to expect from his car in Las Vegas. The British driver also added that the paddock expected a strong performance from Mercedes at Interlagos, and they were nowhere. He also pointed out that Ferrari was expected to perform better than they did in Brazil.
What Norris is saying is that it seems hard to predict what cars suit what circuits these days. Manufacturers seem to be continually tinkering in their efforts to close the gap on Red Bull, which could be disrupting preparation for the next race on the roster.
One thing we can take from this season is that Sergio Perez has performed better on street circuits than on traditional F1 tracks. We also know that the Ferraris performed well at the Italian Grand Prix, and the Vegas track is said to be similar from a speed perspective.
Our Las Vegas Grand Prix Picks
Max Verstappen will most probably win the race. The question is, do we back him, or do we look elsewhere for some value and hope the Dutchman has an off day?
We’re no fans of backing at -325, so are looking elsewhere for our Las Vegas Grand Prix betting picks. Starting with Verstappen’s teammate, we are backing Sergio Perez to win the race. The Mexican finished fourth in Brazil and looked somewhere near back to his best. In recent weeks we have avoided him like the plague. But with this being a street circuit, and the Mexican out at +1600, then why not? Perez is also +162 to finish on the podium.
And how about this one? The Williams team has been talking up their chances this week. So we are taking them at their word and backing Alexander Albon to finish in the top six at +600.
