Max Verstappen won his 15th Grand Prix of the 2023 F1 season in Austin last Sunday. Verstappen (-300) is favored to win again this weekend, this time at the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix. Here in our latest Formula 1 betting picks, we tell you if he will win and what the best bets to make are this weekend.

This is Round 20 of the 2023 Formula 1 season. After Mexico, there are only three more races. Red Bull and Max Verstappen have dominated the 2023 F1 season. Of the 18 races held (Italy was canceled), Red Bull has won 17, with Ferrari winning the other. Of the 17 wins for Red Bull, Max Verstappen has 15 of them.
Max Verstappen wins 15th race of the season
Yes, Max Verstappen drove his way to his 15th win of the season in Austin, Texas, last Sunday. Not only did he win the Grand Prix, but he also won the Sprint race on Saturday. The Sprint win was at a canter, but the Grand Prix win was anything but.
Had Mercedes called their pit strategy better, the chances are that Lewis Hamilton would have caught Verstappen. But in the end, they didn’t, and the rest is history. Verstappen was able to hold off a late charge from Hamilton. But the triple world champion had issues. He was struggling with his car, and this could give the rest of the field hope in Mexico this weekend.
Hamilton and Leclerc Disqualified
Had Lewis Hamilton caught and passed Max Verstappen, it wouldn’t have counted. Along with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Hamilton was disqualified for what was referred to as a technical infringement.
It doesn’t sound like the violation is what led to Hamilton’s improved performance. And it certainly didn’t help Charles Leclerc, who only finished sixth after starting the race in pole position.
One person who gained was Sergio Perez. Lewis Hamilton has been closing in on Perez, who has been second in the standings since Round 2 of the season. But instead of scoring 18 points to finish second, Hamilton scored zero. As a result, Perez scored 12 points by being bumped up to fourth. In the betting to win the drivers championship without Verstappen, Perez is still the favorite at -400, with Hamilton at +275. Perez has a 39-point lead over the Brit.
Betting to Win the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix
Max Verstappen has won here four times already. One of those wins was in 2022, where he started the race from Pole Position. Lewis Hamilton was second 12 months ago, with Verstappen’s Mexican teammate Sergio Perez finishing third and completing the podium. The fastest lap went to George Russell in a race that favored Red Bull and Mercedes.
The dominance of those two teams, along with the performances of Verstappen and Hamilton in Austin last weekend, seems to be having an impact on the betting for Mexico. For the first time in a long while, Lewis Hamilton is the second favorite with the best Formula 1 betting sites.
Verstappen is the favorite. The triple world champion is -300, with Hamilton second at +800. At the beginning of the week, Verstappen was -325, with Hamilton at +900. So, there has already been a swing towards the British driver. In recent races, Max Verstappen has been -450 to win races. So, this represents a significant drift in his odds.
Behind the two market leaders is Sergio Perez at +1000. George Russell and Lando Norris are both on +1500.

Max Verstappen will likely win again. If he is struggling with his car, he still managed to win in Austin, and the same thing will probably happen again in Mexico this Sunday.
Is Verstappen more backable at -300? Well, it’s better than backing him at his usual -450. We’re not backing him at those heavy odds-on prices, though.
Instead, we are looking at the betting to finish in the top three. Here, Max Verstappen is -700, with Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton at -150 and Lando Norris at +120.
Sergio Perez has been awful lately. Lando Norris has finished on the podium in his last four races. It is the home Grand Prix of Perez, and he finished third here 12 months ago. We can’t trust him, though. And there is no way we can back him to win anything at odds-on. If Verstappen finishes, he should win. There is no point backing him at -700. We also feel Lewis Hamilton is too short at -150.
Therefore, our betting pick for the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix is for Lando Norris to finish in the top three at +120.
