Max Verstappen will be looking to sign off from Europe with another win in the 2023 Italian Grand Prix. The Dutchman is the -425 favorite to win his tenth race in succession. Here we tell you if it’s worth backing him to win and name our latest Formula 1 betting picks on the race.
What; 2023 Italian Grand Prix – Round 15
Where; Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Italy
When; Sunday, September 3rd, 2023
Time; 9 am ET
Laps; 53
Race Distance; 306.72 km
The race in Italy this Sunday will be the last of the year in Europe. Eight races are remaining after this, and they will be taking place in Asia and the two American continents.
The European section of the season has been dominated by the Red Bull of Max Verstappen. If he wins this race on Sunday, he will break the record for the most successive wins in an F1 season.
The current record stands at nine and is held by Sebastian Vettel, who set it in 2013 driving a – you’ve guessed it – Red Bull. Also driving a Red Bull, Max Verstappen now sits on nine successive wins after his victory in his home Grand Prix at Zandvoort last weekend.
Another win this weekend, and Verstappen will hold the record outright. And the best of it, he can keep on going after that. We could be seeing a record set here that may never be beaten!
Betting to win the 2023 Italian Grand Prix
Max Verstappen is as short as he has been all season to win a Grand Prix with the best Formula 1 betting sites. He was -400 last Sunday, and most weekends before that, he was -300. This weekend, Max Verstappen is -425 to win the Italian Grand Prix.
If you can call him Verstappen’s closest rival, his closest rival in the betting is Sergio Perez, who is +1000. Such is the dominance of Red Bull, the next drivers in the betting are Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso, who are all at +2000.

In the betting to win the drivers championship without Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso saw his odds dramatically slashed after his second-place finish last Sunday in Zandvoort.
Before the Dutch Grand Prix, Alonso was +3300 to win the championship without Verstappen. The Spaniard is now into +1600.
Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez still leads the way in this market. Cashing in on another disappointing performance from Mercedes last Sunday, Perez is now -600, having started the race at -400. His closest rival, Lewis Hamilton, saw his odds drift from +275 to +400 after a disappointing sixth-place finish last week.
Before the Dutch Grand Prix, Alonso and his Aston Martin team were written off. He is still a massive 33 points behind Perez. But with a strong finish to the season, he could yet pip the under-pressure Red Bull driver to second place in the Drivers Championship.
Verstappen looks too short to back at -425
What do you do when it comes to betting on Max Verstappen? He’s virtually unstoppable. But when it comes to betting, he’s also unbackable at -425. If he turns up, and all goes to plan, we all know he wins.
But this weekend, we’re leaving him. It would be just typical that the day he’s set to break the record, something will go wrong. But at the same time, it would be no surprise if he wins by 30 seconds.
Back Leclerc for a podium finish at +250
Instead, we’re looking at the top three finish betting again. I know this bet went wrong last week, and I also realize that backing anything to do with a Ferrari is a risk.
But this is their home Grand Prix. They have to get their act together for it. There can be no repeat of the farcical scenes witnessed last weekend when Leclerc pitted for tires in the rain, and they didn’t have the correct tires ready.
What followed for Leclerc may have been a direct consequence of the pitstop. He was pushing too hard to try and make up the lost time, overdone it, and ended up in the gravel. But it was the pitstop that did the damage. And Leclerc ended up with a DNF.
But his teammate Carlos Sainz finished a credible fifth. His car performed well and showed that Ferrari was competing with the teams behind Red Bull. Leclerc is a faster driver than Sainz, and had he not been hampered by that ridiculous pit stop, he may have finished in the top three last Sunday.
This weekend we believe that it’s worth sticking with Leclerc. He is +250 to finish in the top three, and this in his Constructors home race. We also believe it’s worth having a little side bet on a Ferrari winning the race. That is +1600. And if something does go wrong for Verstappen, why can’t it be Ferrari that gets the rewards?
