The upcoming World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas is set to break records with a staggering guaranteed prize pool of $40 million. Last year’s event surpassed expectations with a prize pool of $29 million, and this year’s tournament is expected to attract even more players.

The no-limit hold ’em tournament will take place from Dec. 12-21, with the final table being live-streamed on Dec. 21. With a buy-in of $10,400, the tournament is set to be one of the biggest $10k events in history outside of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.
The WPT festival will kick off on Nov. 29 on the Las Vegas Strip, leading up to the highly anticipated tournament. It’s impressive that the inaugural WPT World Championship in 2022 was not far from this year’s record-breaking guarantee.
The tournament will surely be thrilling, with the potential for six players to walk away with an eight-figure payday.
The 2023 WPT World Championship event promises a huge prize pool, and players can enter any of the four starting flights beginning Dec. 12.
Re-entry will be allowed, and the tournament structure is set up to the liking of both pros and recreational players.
Everyone starts with 100,000 chips and plays 60-minute levels on Day 1, with the levels increasing to 90 minutes throughout the remainder of the tournament until heads-up play begins (45 minutes).
Eliot Hudon is the reigning champion, having won $4.1 million for beating out 2,960 entrants, the largest field ever for a non-WSOP $10k.
This year’s winner will almost certainly take home a significantly higher prize than Hudon’s score. However, it may not be as much as Weinman’s $12 million.
The WPT World Championship series will compete heavily with the first-ever World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise series in the Bahamas, which runs from December 3rd to 15th.
This year’s World Series of Poker winner, Daniel Weinman, took home $12.1 million after beating out 10,043 entrants.

There are numerous other major tournaments on the schedule, none more anticipated than the $1 million buy-in WPT Big One for One Drop from December 18th-19th, the first time the seven-figure charity event has been hosted in the US outside of the WSOP.
Starting on Dec. 6, the $1,100 Ladies Championship is back! This three-day no-limit hold ’em tournament comes with a $250,000 guarantee. Last year’s event was one of the most significant female-only poker tournaments in history.
Lina Niu emerged as the champion after beating out 578 other players, earning $105,136 in the process.
