The 2023-24 Serie A campaign is officially underway, but it’s never too early to bet on the eventual Scudetto winner. As we all know, Napoli is the reigning champions, finishing a whopping 16 points clear of Lazio to capture their first title in 33 years under Luciano Spalletti, who has now moved on and taken the Italy job. But despite still having a strong squad, the Blues aren’t the clear favorite to repeat. Inter Milan is the frontrunner with +200 odds, followed by Napoli (+300), Juventus (+350), AC Milan (+400), and Jose Mourinho’s Roma (+1600). Below, we’ll discuss the Serie A futures and lay out the odds for the top-10.
To Inter’s standards, 2022-23 wasn’t a great season domestically. They finished third in the top flight and a whole 18 points behind Napoli. Yes, making the Champions League final was a massive accomplishment despite the defeat to Man City, but Simone Inzaghi’s side will be very focused on winning their second Scudetto in the last four years, lifting the grand prize in 2020-21. Inter made some very intriguing moves in the transfer window to strengthen the squad, too. The club replaces Andre Onana with Swiss shot-stopper Yann Sommer who was briefly at Bayern. In the final third, Inter added Marcus Thuram, Marko Arnautovic, Juan Cuadrado, and Robin Gosens. Edin Dzeko is gone, but the hope is Thuram can be the perfect replacement alongside Lautaro Martinez. Inter started off the campaign with a bang as Martinez bagged both goals in a 2-0 win over Monza.
Napoli (+300)
A new manager always changes things. Napoli was clicking under Spalletti, but now, Rudi Garcia is in charge after getting sacked by Al-Nassr, the same club Cristiano Ronaldo is playing at. Honestly, the holders didn’t make a lot of changes in the summer window. However, they did lose a key piece at the back in defender Min-jae Kim, who left for Bayern. The attacking duo of Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia remains intact, though. Osimhen scored 26 goals last term and supplied four assists in Serie A action, while the Georgian netted 12 and set up another 10. If these two can produce even close to as much this season, Napoli has a fantastic chance of competing for the title again. Osimhen already opened his account over the weekend with a brace, too.
Juventus (+350)
Juve has been an utter disappointment in recent years. They were in seventh by the end of 2022-23, but that was due to the points deduction. The Old Lady had an overall record of 22-6-10 and was also banned from any European play for a whole year. That means their focus will be heavily on Serie A. Max Allegri’s group certainly got off to a good start with a 3-0 victory over Udinese, with Dusan Vlahovic, Adrien Rabiot, and Federico Chiesa all hitting the back of the net. Juventus signed numerous players in the summer as well, including Timothy Weah, Arkadiusz Milik, and Manuel Locatelli on a full-time basis, to name a few. No club in Italy has even close to Juve’s 36 titles. This is a team who has oozed success for years, and it’s time they get back to dominance. The talent in this squad is there and Allegri knows what it takes to win in Turin.
AC Milan (+400)
Milan won it all in 2021-22 but took a step back last campaign with a fourth-place finish, compiling a record of 20-10-8. And although the Rossoneri did see Sandro Tonali and Ante Rebic depart, among others, there’s no shortage of impactful additions. Christian Pulisic scored on his debut Monday, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Samuel Chukwueze, Yunus Musah, and Noah Okafor are all Milan players now. Olivier Giroud is still scoring goals at an impressive rate for his age, and the squad is honestly stronger. Milan certainly has an opportunity to be in the title race.
Serie A Futures Pick
When it comes to futures, it’s always best to put money down on a minimum of two clubs, especially this early. To me, Inter is a fantastic bet, and also, I like Juventus. I don’t see Napoli repeating.
