Yes, the Driver’s World Championship has been over for a few weeks now. Max Verstappen won the British Grand Prix two weeks ago, and the win saw him extend his lead at the top of the championship to a ridiculous 99 points.
Verstappen has won the last six races and sits on 255 points. His closest rival, if you can call him that, is Sergio Perez with 156 points. And with a further 12 races to go this season, the question has to be asked if he can win all of them.
Behind Verstappen, Perez is holding off the challenge of Fernando Alonso (137 points) and Lewis Hamilton (121). But the two former world champions are not going away, and Sergio Perez is now -225 in the betting to win the driver’s championship without Verstappen. Hamilton is +300, and Alonso is +500.
What happened in last year’s Hungarian Grand Prix?
Last year the race was won by Max Verstappen. The Dutchman started 10th on the grid, but a magnificent drive saw him work his way through the field to take the checkered flag.
The race was a good one for Mercedes. They occupied 2nd and 3rd position on the podium, with Lewis Hamilton finishing second ahead of his teammate George Russell. Hamilton also claimed the fastest lap, while Russell started the race in Pole Position.
2023 Hungarian Grand Prix winner betting odds
No shocks or surprises ahead of Round 12 of the Formula 1 Drivers Championship. This week, the best Formula 1 betting sites make Max Verstappen -280 to win the Grand Prix. He’s usually at -300, so it’s not a huge shift in the betting.
Behind Verstappen is Sergio Perez. In the previous Grand Prix in Great Britain, Perez was +650 to win the race. This week he’s back out at +1000. Alongside Perez in the betting is Fernando Alonso at +1200, Lewis Hamilton at +1400, Lando Norris at +1600, and Charles Leclerc at +1800.
Lando Norris is the new name in the group of drivers behind Verstappen. His McLaren car has had some recent upgrades, and as a result, Norris finished fourth in Canada, and he then backed that up by finishing second at the British Grand Prix.

Okay, so here we go. Max Verstappen will probably win again. The Dutchman has now won the last six races and will be looking to make it seven in Hungary. One week his run will come to an end. But how can anyone back against him winning?
Verstappen is very short, and as we say, one week he won’t win. So if you prefer to bet on something else, here are some alternative Hungarian Grand Prix betting picks.
Is it time to start picking longer-shot drivers?
We know we’ve just said Max Verstappen will probably win the Hungarian Grand Prix, but are we now getting to the point where it’s worth backing the other drivers as his run must soon come to an end?
Every other driver is +1000 or better to win the race. So it’s possible to hedge the following five drivers in the betting and win if Verstappen fails to win the race. The risk is if we do this for every race and Verstappen keeps on winning, it will be an expensive experiment.
If you wish to follow that formula, do so with extreme caution and use small stakes. As no one knows when Verstappen is next going to fail to win a Grand Prix.
Alternatively, we’re a top-three finish betting pick for you instead.
Top Three Finish Betting Pick
In the betting to finish in the top three, Max Verstappen is the favorite at -600, with Sergio Perez at -125, Fernando Alonso at -110, and Lewis Hamilton at -120.
Outside the four odds-on favorites are Lando Norris at +250, Charles Leclerc at +275, Carlos Sainz at +350, and George Russell at +400.
After two top-four finishes in his last two races, we’re surprised to see that Lando Norris is as long as +250. We think those odds look a touch long and make Lando Norris to finish in the top three our F1 betting pick.
