The third major of the year gets underway in California later this week. Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite. But can the world number one win his first US Open Championship at the Los Angeles Country Club when the action gets going on Thursday? Here we tell you who we think will win, with our latest US Open golf betting picks.
This is the first time a US Open has been held at the LACC. The event is to be played on the North Course, which used to be a venue used for the Los Angeles Open. But it last hosted that event in 1940. By and large, this will be a brand new course to most of the players rocking up at the LACC this week.
But the North Course was used in the 2017 Walker Cup. Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa both played in that event. Scheffler won one and lost one of his matches, while Morikaka won three from three.
As for the course record, that’s 61 and was set by Max Homa at a Pac-12 event in 2013.
After his win in the recent US PGA Championship, Brooks Koepka is a gatecrasher into the betting favorites to win the US Open.
For so long now, we’ve been used to seeing the best online golf betting sites favoring the trio of Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and Scottie Scheffler – in any particular order. And whilst the trio are still amongst the favorites, Brooks Koepka has now split them.
As we’ve mentioned, Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win. And the 2022 Masters champion is a clear favorite. Could this be due to the fact he is one of the few to have played this course? Maybe. That, along with being the world’s number 1.
Anyway, Scheffler is just +700 to win the US Open. That puts clear daylight between him and second favorite Jon Rahm at +1100. After the Spaniard, comes Brooks Koepka at +1200, with Rory McIlroy fourth in the betting at +1500.
Patrick Cantlay, the in-form Viktor Hovland, and Xander Schauffele are next at +1800. There is then another gap before we get to the 2015 champion, Jordan Spieth +2500. With the course record holder Max Homa at +2800.

Now, onto our US Open betting picks.
As is usually the case in golf betting picks, the odds are long enough to allow us to hedge our bets. And with half the field missing the cut and not being around over the weekend, it’s always nice to have a selection of players, with hopefully at least one of them still being in with a chance of winning on the final day.
This weekend, we’re ignoring the favorites. Scottie Scheffler could well win, but we’re not backing him at +700. If he drifts early on, then maybe back him in play, but not at +700 pre-competition. As for Rory McIlroy, well he has shown signs of returning to top form, but he still seems to be carrying some baggage around from the LIV Golf saga.
Of the usual top three in the betting, Jon Rahm looks the best value. But we’re not selecting the 2021 champion either.
Our first pick is Viktor Hovland. The Norwegian is in good form, having picked up the winner check at the Memorial Tournament at the start of the month. As well as winning at Muirfield, Hovland also finished T2 at the US PGA Championship, T7 at the Masters, and T3 at the Players.
The Norwegian is banging on the door for a major win. And his win at the Memorial will give him the self-belief that he can do it. We’re making Viktor Hovland at +1800 our first pick to win the US Open.
We were tempted to go with Max Homa at +650 to finish in the top 5, but we figured this bet is better value. Don’t be put off backing the course record holder for a top 5 finish.
Homa is another one of those bets where we are kicking ourselves if we don’t back him, and he wins. He is well worth a wager at odds of +2800.
We can’t back Collin Morikawa to win, as he’s just been too wayward with his form and iron play in recent months. His highest finish here is T4, achieved in 2021, and we do believe that Morikawa will come good again, and it would be no shock to see him win this event one day soon.
But for now, we’re just backing Collin Morikawa to finish in the top 10 for our pick.
And finally, our old friend Justin Rose. Rose finished 8th in Canada last weekend, and in recent weeks he has finished T12 in the Charles Schwab, T9 in the PGA, T25 in the RBC Heritage, and T16 at the Masters.
In short, the 2013 champion is in good form. And while we don’t see him winning this event for a second time, we can see Justin Rose finishing in the top 10.
