Saturday brings a very intriguing Serie A encounter between clubs fighting for their top-four lives as AS Roma locks horns with AC Milan at Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The kick-off is scheduled for 12 PM ET. The hosts are currently level on points with Milan, with the two sides sitting in fourth and fifth, respectively. Keep reading for the Roma vs AC Milan picks.
As you can see, there is no clear favorite. Milan’s odds at Bovada online sportsbook are +180, while Roma sits at +175. At all three sportsbooks, they’re at plus odds. The reverse fixture in January was highly entertaining, ending in a 2-2 draw at the San Siro.
Roma Need a Positive Result
Jose Mourinho’s men are through to the Europa League semifinals after smashing Feyenoord 4-2 on aggregate across two legs last week. Although winning some more hardware outside of Italy would be nice, securing Champions League football for next season is undoubtedly the main focus.
At the moment, just five points separate Roma and second-place Lazio, which means the top-four race is completely wide open. The Giallorossi are in serious need of a positive result Saturday though, having suffered a brutal 3-1 defeat to Atalanta last weekend in Bergamo.
They were down by two goals by the 74th minute before Lorenzo Pelligrini cut the lead in half, but Teun Koopmeiners fired Atalanta ahead for good just one minute after Roma found the back of the net.
Unfortunately, history isn’t on Roma’s side Saturday, failing to notch a win in the previous five meetings with Milan.
Milan Riding a High
Sure, the Rossoneri might be on the brink of making the UCL in 2023-24; Stefano Pioli’s group is through to the last four of this current competition, which no one could’ve predicted. Milan beat Napoli in the quarterfinals and will now meet with their city rivals, Inter, in the semis. What a tie that will be.
The Red and Blacks are in great form right now, going unbeaten in their last six outings across all competitions. During that span, Milan beat Napoli twice and most recently secured a vital three points on Sunday on home soil against Lecce.
Rafael Leao was the star of the show at the San Siro, scoring a brace to take his tally to 12 goals on the season. Milan has won back-to-back games versus Roma on the road by 2-1 scorelines, and considering how well the side is playing, and they will be full of confidence this weekend.
Roma vs AC Milan Picks
There’s never any shortage of excitement when Roma and Milan clash, and I expect nothing different here. But, I believe the visitors will continue to trend in the right direction and snatch three points away from home.
