Championship Sunday proved unreal, as fans across the globe loved seeing what went down in both the AFC and NFC. Only two teams remain in the hunt for the Lombardi Trophy: Kansas City and Philadelphia. This piece has our NFL 2023 Super Bowl picks for the monster Eagles vs. Chiefs showdown. Heading into the action, the Eagles are small favorites over the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, which isn’t much of a surprise. If you’ve been following the NFL season closely throughout the year, you know that the Eagles have been the best team in the league, with quarterback Jalen Hurts taking a big step forward this season, and the same can be said for other players.
In the NFC Championship Game, the Eagles had no issues taking down the 49ers with the trip to Arizona on the line. Hurts and the offense scored 31 points against the NFL’s top-rated defense, as San Francisco couldn’t stop them on the ground. Philadelphia recorded four rushing touchdowns, with star running back Miles Sanders recording two.

Unfortunately for San Francisco, quarterback Brock Purdy suffered an elbow injury in the first half, basically wiping away any chance the 49ers had of pulling off an upset. With the crowd in Philly going wild, too, it made a difference as well. Now, the Eagles are focused on winning their second Super Bowl, but the Chiefs are ready to prevent that.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Eagles currently hold -126 NFL Super Bowl betting odds to come away with a win, while the Chiefs have been set at +108. This will be a back-and-forth contest, and Philly surely has what it takes to pull away late and bring home the title. However, we’re going in a different direction here.
Time and time again, Kansas City finds a way to post a thrilling win, and we think that will be the case here, as the Chiefs are our pick to win the Super Bowl. Why did you ask? Our answer is Patrick Mahomes. Arguably the best quarterback in the game, Mahomes is on his way to winning the MVP award, and there’s no question at all that he deserves this honor.
In the AFC Championship Game, Mahomes was able to play through a high-ankle sprain, which normally takes nearly a month to recover from. He battled through the injury and powered the Chiefs over the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game basically on one foot. It was an incredible showing from Mahomes, and he reminded people of how talented he is.
Not only that, but tight end Travis Kelce was also big in this one, scoring a great touchdown early. Kelce is the best tight end in the game, and he’ll look to make a statement in Glendale. The Chiefs will need to step up defensively, as Hurts will look to make a lot of plays with his receivers. It will be on the KC secondary to try and contain the Philly playmakers.
Those playmakers include A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and more. Head coach Andy Reid will have to get creative with things, but something tells us he and his coordinators will be up to the task. Something tells us Mahomes will lead a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter to win his second Super Bowl. We’re going with Kansas City. Agree? With these two powerful offenses, the Super Bowl should be a high-scoring game, no doubt about that. Per the oddsmakers, the over/under has been set at 49.5 points, which we feel is the correct number. During Championship Sunday, the Chiefs scored 23 points in their exciting win over the Cincinnati Bengals, while the Eagles took down San Francisco 31-7.
With Mahomes and Hurts lining up at quarterback, the potential for both of these offenses to score will be there on every drive. One thing to consider is that the weather in Arizona will also be fantastic – it always is this time of year. The temperatures were low in Philadelphia and Kansas City over the weekend, with things getting down to 10 degrees in KC.
That most impacted the play-calling for both teams in the AFC title game. That won’t be the case here in the Super Bowl, though, as the ball will fly all over the field thanks to Mahomes and Hurts. We could see this game turning out to be 31-24 or even 27-24, which would be fun. That said, we’re going with the over as our pick.
